| James Proudstar | | 66 ageless appears like a fresh faced youth except for his eyes | | Character Differences | James Proudstar wanted to follow his brother into the world of the X-Men make the world better for all mankind. However, James was of a different spirit, while he was fierce and determined. He was a very religious young man. James was a different soul than his brother. No less determined to fight for what was right, he also had a deeply spiritual side. An altar boy, he planned to go to seminary when he gained the powers of Guardian Angel. Jame's gained the same abilities as his brother John, with a couple significant additions. He has superhuman vision including the ability to see things far off or hidden from the naked eye. James can see a person's soul but it is an intimate act for him and he must steel himself to the ugliness all men harbor. He has eagle's wings that manifest from his back when he wishes. Their nature is undetermined by James. He can fly at attack helicopter speeds with a hummingbird's agility. He also can manifest the Armor of God. A suit of ancient armor that no matter what damage (and it takes a lot of punishment to damage it), it suffers is always repaired when he calls for it again as well as a sword and shield. He tries to avoid calling upon these gifts. When he does call upon them he gains a golden halo like a red gold nimbus about his head. His voice also changes and can cause fear in the hearts of men. His first words are usually, 'Be not afraid'. His eyes fill with a golden flame when he is angry. He can heal himself or others and free himself or others from mental or spiritual domination. Unlike our world he did not follow the Warpath. | Brief World Background | James Proudstar's world is different from our world. Mutation is understood but still feared. The guarded secret about mutants in this world is that they or those close to them, subconsciously influence the form their mutation will take. Several groups including the X-Men, Brotherhood, various governments and secret societies all try to find mutants before their expression of the X-gene and 'guide' the individual according to the group's needs and the individual's nature. This means that since WWII the US has mandated that mutant children be taken to specialized schools where the strongest telepaths and psychics, dream manipulators, and influencers attempt to shape the young minds. Removing children from home when they are at their most vulnerable and replacing their families with artificial father and mother figures all who are trying subtly and not so subtly to influence them, has had some predictably unfortunate consequences, like raising a whole generation of emotionally detached and resentful superhumans. | Brief Character Background | personal James is a dedicated, kind deeply religious man. In many ways he is the best that could be hoped for from the world he was raised in. Mostly because he avoided government schools and was under the radar for most of his life. He feels compelled to do the work of Angels and finds little time or need for sleep. Prayer really can sustain him. He was snatched while in prayer at Saint Anne's church. Secondary but I would be just as happy with either character.
