[indent]Devan is built compact and short, he only stands in around five foot seven inches although he looks a bit shorter upon first glance. His build is wiry with muscle and he is very lean, he can easily be compared to a dancer in frame. He has broad shoulders and a broad chest although this is somewhat due to how compact his muscular distribution is. 

His skin tone is olive and spotted with dark freckles that are evenly scattered across his body. His fingertips are usually blackened with rot, his nails are almost always cracked. He tends to keep his hands wrapped in gauze as a result of this.

His hair is often kept just a bit too long and it tends to be somewhat messy. He almost never seems to keep his hair brushed and as a result it winds up hanging across his forehead and nose. He has a pretty face with high cheekbones and a sharp jawline, his eyes are heavy-lidded and a very light blue in shade. He has a full mouth that's often down-turned and somewhat somber.[/indent]

[indent]Devan was born the youngest of three children to a frankly somewhat impoverished family, his mother was quite kind and doting while his father was distant and sometimes hard to get along with. He grew up strong and he grew up smart, a hard-working young man with a desire to help people or... at least be involved in helping people. While his problems with his father sometimes held him back or made him reluctant to pursue certain things, he managed to push on despite this.

It could be said that Devan was [i]angry[/i] in some ways, that he tended to lash out at people he cared about but it couldn't be said that he wasn't [i]trying[/i]. Whatever internal crisis he was dealing with as a result of his shaky upbringing came second to his pursuit of a career where he was hands-on with those around him. He was a good fit for his chosen path as an EMT, taking to it with ease and helping provide for his mother and siblings. 

Things looked fine until the Energy Storm swept through the United States, it was quite worrisome when he was struck ill. It was even more worrisome when his powers began to develop, surprising him with the cruelty of what they could reap.[/indent][/hider]
