I do think we need a bit more direction and a little bit more starting energy from our starter post, I won't lie. Especially with an established group that already know eachother, giving everyone time to sort of mill about IC and chat casually can be good - but with an unfamiliar group in an unfamiliar setting, I've always found it more effective to start with more focus. For example, it might be helpful for us to have started [i]in[/i] the orientation session, with some time for us to react to it immediately after that post, and then something to kick the main plot along.
