Was this stone wall always here and someone had built a monastery [i]underground[/i] or had the entire construction been sealed in stone at some point? Well... Liliane couldn't say that it mattered too much, it wasn't likely whoever or whatever could bring that much rock to bear was going to do so again whilst they were exploring the place. Both gods and ancient archmages had better things to do with their time.

Corinne, for her part, was determined to prove that she would be useful and already chanting a surprisingly complicated spell, which first let up the gems on her staff but then migrated the pair of lights to above her, casting a warm, pleasing glow close to, but not quite, unlike sunlight. Something definitely better for seeing what they were doing than firelight, that was for sure.
