I was just a kid to some hunters livin' in the woods. My mama died givin' birth to me, and my Pa, he ended up gettin' killed by a grizzly up near the mountains when I was twelve. I lived there by myself mostly in our old cabin, huntin' deer and elk just to survive. I'd keep the meat for myself but trade the hides for money. You could make quite a bit of money that way. Anyways, I was there maybe two, three years when these fellers came prowlin' around the cabin one night. I could tell by the way they talked they were injuns. They were dressed in leathers and furs and carried rifles and bows and arrows. I knew they were lookin' for somebody to raid, so I grabbed up what all I could in a hurry, mainly my Pa's old shotgun and a bit of money, and I got the hell out of there before they burnt that place to the ground. Never been back there since... No point in goin' back when there's nothin' left. I traveled further north towards Colorado, where I met up with a few of these men up near Boulder City. Apparently, they worked for a very rich man, an oil man named Homer Wells. I got hired on with them thanks to my straight shootin' abilities. My job was simple, just guard the oil shipments from the fields up to the refinery. I rarely saw any action, except maybe for a few bandits tryin' to bushwhack us on the road, but I wasn't complainin'. It was good money. However, that all went to shit one fine day. Homer's daughter, Susan, she was a beautiful young lady. All the men who worked for Homer fawned over her, but to touch her would be a goddamn death sentence. Well, I didn't know it at the time, but apparently Susan had quite the feelins for me. I guess you could say I have some kind of charm with the ladies. Anywho, we secretly began foolin' around behind her father's back. I knew sooner or later one day, I was gonna get caught, but I didn't care. I was in love with Susan. It was just too bad she didn't feel the same for me... She had told me some stories about how her Pa had done some things to her, touchin' her in places you shouldn't be touchin' your daughter. She wanted to get away from him, so she convinced me to kill him and steal his money. Regretfully, I did. I snuck into Mister Wells' room in the middle of the night, then I slit his throat and took all the money he had from his bedroom safe in the closet. I met Susan by the train station just as I promised her, with Homer's boys hot on my tail. Then suddenly, just as I'm about to board the train with her, thinkin' we're gonna start our new life together. BOOM! She blasts me in the chest with a pistol she pulled from her goddamn dress. I couldn't believe it. The bitch betrayed me. All she wanted was that old man's money, and she fuckin' used me to get it! Well, I reckon you know what happens next. Homer's boys turned me over to the law. I was sentenced to death, about to be hung when this outlaw comes out of nowhere and saves me. He shot the rope, and I fell to the ground. Then, he handed me a gun and told me to ride with him. I shot my way out of town and grabbed the first horse I could find, then I rode with him all the way towards California. He told me his name was Elijah, Elijah Rainwater. He was runnin' with these two other folks, an old man and a saloon whore on the run from Texas. Anywho, I joined up with him like he asked. We went all over the west robbin' people, mostly banks, some trains here and there. I started to enjoy it, mostly because of who we robbed, rich bastards who used others for their persona gain. Elijah had this whole idea that we were gonna change the world, make it how it was supposed to be. Men livin' free and all that. Later on, we met a few other people who joined us. That's when I met the love of my life, Kira. She was the most beautiful woman I ever laid eyes on, sweet and innocent too. I sometimes wonder how she got mixed up with our gang, but still, I knew I wanted to be hers. She was shy at first and didn't take too kindly to me, but I laid on the charm a bit and next thing I know, she was fallin' right into my arms. We married in the spring of 1885, and I've been with her ever since. We're expectin' a child soon, and to be honest, it's got me thinkin'. On one hand, I don't know if I want our kid to grow up around all this, all the killin' and stealin' we do, but at the same time, I can't bring myself to leave Elijah, not after all he done for me and my wife. It's got me conflicted here... I guess when the time comes, I'll have to make my choice, one that I reckon will follow me for the rest of my life.
