Stopping in front of an empty table, he held the leaf up to eye level. He flipped it over, trying to discover anything unique about it. After squinting at it for a moment he moved it close to his face and sniffed it. Nothing… So far the leaf was… just a leaf. He wasn't sure if he'd find anything of value from this, but he had to try. Holding the single leaf by the stem in one hand, and sifting through the drawers in the lab with his left, he eventually retrieved a case of microscope slides, a Petri dish, diluted water, and a box of gloves. In a few moments, Viktor was studying a piece of the leaf through the microscope while the rest of it sat in the Petri dish. "Hmm." Viktor noticed the cells did not appear as just plant cells or just animal cells, but both. It was not too surprising, but still, a weird thing to observe. He glanced at the leftover leaf in the petri dish. It wasn't much to work with, but he conducted as many tests as quickly as he could. He burned it over a burner, plunged a bit in acid, left it in water, but nothing immediately occurred. In fact, the leaf did nothing outside the realms of a typical leaf from a tree just outside the headquarters. Viktor held the stem with a small portion of the leaf with that same neutral expression he always wore. There was nothing… but it was a confirmed nothing. He was almost disappointed but stopped himself. It's only fitting based on what she's shown so far. To expect anything more is just hopeful or foolish. He cleaned off and put the equipment away, but kept the bit of leaf he had left, placing it in a small ziplock bag. He tucked it in his pocket and made his way to the gymnasium. And now for some real training.
