Kay slowly pulled her hand away when he gave her to cue that it was helping him. "You're welcome and I'm glad it's helping a bit" she said back to him, "We can stay awake together. Maybe put the tv on or just chat?" she suggested, not knowing which he would wanna do but figured the two options were at least a start. It wasn't like they had much to do in the room after all. She didn't even notice Chas and Serena sneaking out of Serena's room, she was too focused on John. 

Chas couldn't believe he was actually agreeing to let her do this but he also knew it was pretty pointless in trying to stop Serena. So if he couldn't stop her then going with her to make sure she didn't overdo it was the next best option. SO he snuck her out of the room, making sure to not be seen by either Kay or John whilst heading to the kid's ward with Serena.
