This is true even once a spider becomes close to humanity, as the yōkai Jorōgumo's very name means "Entangling Bride", and she's shown to be very clingy towards her master. In the event of being summoned by a female master, Berserker's personality is one that is very supportive and kindly, acting in a friendly manner that befits a friend. The problem arises from Berserker's obsession with men, and not in the carnal fashion. If Berserker is summoned by a man, it is unlikely one would ever get to know her personality before it became a fight for survival, as the Man-Eater aspect of her myth would manifest before her sanity caught up to it. But thankfully we don't have to worry about that! As she is now, Berserker has an air of maturity to her, offering encouragement to her master and protecting them fiercely. The only way one can see her as being "evil" is in her man-eater nature and her sincere belief that enjoyment should be sought over moral justification. She wants to fight because it is fun for her, and she wants to aid her master because they find them amusing. Just...make sure not to leave her unattended without a command spell ruling her actions. History: A long time ago, beside a waterfall, threads were thrown that ensnared a man's leg. His clever thinking spared his life, but many men were not so lucky before him. This is the tale of the Jorōgumo, a yōkai with the form of a beautiful woman hiding the hideous nature of its existence as a spider. While the Jorōgumo can be considered as being just a classification of yōkai, Berserker differs in the sense that she is specifically the Jorōgumo of Izu, Shizuoka, the Mistress of the Jōren Falls. While nameless, her title is one that was passed down in folklore again and again, and as such it was enough for the idea of the Jorōgumo to manifest as this servant. While her myth is one steeped in bloodshed, Berserker is strangely sane as far as her class goes, capable of full communication with her master and others without problem, even proving amicable to the master that summons her. ...So long as it isn't a man, that is. Her nature as a man-eating beast would manifest if she were summoned by a man, and would have to be put down immediately to keep from trying to consume her master to the bone.
Parameters Strength: B Mana: C Endurance: D Luck: A Agility: A NP: B Class Skills: Madness Enhancement D: There can be no doubt that Berserker is a heroic spirit based on a monstrous being, but even so, it is difficult to discern exactly what part of her sanity has eroded. As such, the parameters gained from this skill are negligible, but the rank of the skill jumps to A+ during her Noble Phantasm's effect. Personal Skills: Poison Resistance: Berserker is completely immune to any form of poison, given their origin being that of a spider. Congregation of Lesser Kin C: As an incredibly powerful spirit based upon a spider, the lesser kin of Berserker bend to her will and serve as her eyes and ears. This makes her primarily useful for scouting. Elegant Bridal Trap A: In myth, Berserker wove intricate webs to ensnare men that would serve as her meals. Berserker is capable of expelling webbing from the spindly legs attached to her back, using all eight limbs to weave dangerous magical webs that are incredibly durable. They are also capable of floating on water or sinking at will, reflecting her origin of a water trapper. Innocent Monster B: The tale of a yōkai devouring humans is nothing all that unusual, but the tale of the Jorōgumo is one that has been changed and rewritten, to the extent that the original meaning of her name has been changed as well. Between being a simple man-eater, to a misunderstood monster in need of love, Jorōgumo is a figure that has had her story torn apart and restructured to the extent that the heroic spirit that inherited her legend wound up being more human than the original yōkai. Poison of Jōren Falls C: A spider kills by poison, slowly, inch by inch until their prey melts from the inside out. Berserker's poison melts not only the flesh, but the very will and soul of the target gradually. She is capable of spreading this poison through the air, though in a state that would only affect non-servants given the diluted dispersal of it. Noble Phantasm: Name: Clever Abyss: Forlorn and Honest Betrothal Type: Anti-Unit Rank: B Description: To a being that lives for centuries, human lives are tantamount to insects in comparison. In myth, Berserker would lay in wait under the water and throw her strings out to fish for human beings, dragging them beneath. In others, Berserker's lover would come under the water to be with her forever. But the inescapable truth of her existence is that she is a being based on a spider. This noble phantasm takes the form of a Bounded Field inscribed within a web, capable of being enacted through the work of countless spiders under Berserker's control, or through her own hand to increase the duration. When activated, the Bounded Field seals Berserker and her target in a finite space resembling a dark cave, without light and without exit. The only way out of the Field at this point is for Berserker herself to release it, to kill her to end the effect, or to die by her hand. While in this domain Berserker's form sheds its humanity to take on its half-spider lower half, significantly increasing her parameters under the condition of her sanity being lost to a beastial hunger. Once the effect of the field ends, Berserker will revert to her human form after shedding her skin, her sanity returning along with it. If she so chose, she could also activate the Bounded Field with only herself as a target in order to hide her presence.
