[indent]So essentially the story is currently taking place during the following months after the Chosen Undead extinguished the light of the First Flame, but many who are clinging to their dwindling humanity seek to find a way to rekindle the light like their lords fought so hard to do in the long forgotten past. 

Thus the Cult of the Last Embers was born, formed by a group of Gwyneveres last followers whose disillusionment of their ladies own existence still blinded them from the truth that she was nothing more than a facsimile. 

The once proud city of Anor Londo that served as a beacon of hope now is nothing more than a dark reflection of it's former glory, a land shrouded in darkness where the damned are condemned to exile by the followers of the Cult of the Last Embers.[/indent]
