It’s construction is as solid as it is ancient – a barrier that shields him from blows that would shatter the bone of mortal men. A lance also appears at his beck and call, wreathed in whipping bolts of lightning and swirling lines of shadow both. The weapon allows its wielder an unparalleled reach and precision, if handled with the deftness it demands. • Abilities: Noblesse oblige/Noblesse martyrs – Serin can shield an ally within sight from harm, slightly softening the blow and distributing the damage taken evenly between both him and his ally. Conversely, if the target is at a lower health threshold than Serin himself he can choose to take the raw brunt of the attack in their stead, unmitigated. Eye for Eye, Tooth for Tooth – The gauntlets of Serin’s armor naturally end in a sharper point, more akin to claws or talons than anything humanoid. Shadow enwreathes these digits at his command, the unnatural darkness acting as a feral kind of weapon. When they come into contact with blood it’s as if the sharpened shadow drinks of the vital crimson - reinvigorating its host. Even Should Heaven Fall - Serin is able to forge magic sigils with a simple incantation, these magical constructs are translucent save for the patterns that give them their power. They enhance the knight’s ability to leap far greater distances than normally possible, and allow him to land ‘mostly’ safely if he’s touched one in the past few seconds. Normally used for devastating airborne plunges from above. • Background: House Le’riain is a renowned and international name, the family itself involved in nigh everything; From trade guilds to kingdom politics to magical research, and, if rumors are true, even the less savory elements of society. Being born into such a prestigious household guaranteed the young Serin opportunities and tutelage far removed from what was attainable by the common man – the boy groomed since near birth to inherit the family mantle alongside his brother, Sahar. Academics. Athletics. Decorum. Creed. Faith. Both heirs to the Le’riain name were drilled in these subjects, from dusk to dawn, for years on end. Serin was the quiet and methodical of the two, whereas his other half, Sahar, was the social butterfly – the lively and bright child. Wherein Serin excelled at athletics, his brother happened to be a near prodigy so far as academics were concerned. Where one lacked the other compensated, a perfect pair if there ever was. The future of the house seemed bright, were it to last. As both aged, nearing their mid 20s each, something changed. Serin’s demeanor shifted, his once filial piety replaced with a biting sarcasm, the brotherly love him and Sahar shared growing cold and unfathomably distant. At twenty four, during a family event that saw the near entire line gathered together, Serin renounced his inheritance and claim to the Le’riain name. Half his family was left in shock, the other half in anger. Serin disappeared from the public eye soon thereafter, taking what wealth he’d built in his early adult life. Only years later does he reappear, drawn to the mythical tower in the sky.
