Esme Stirling
Esme clutched her jacket to her chest after Cason shoved it there, giving him a look saying “You don’t say” as she pushed past him, then opened the door once she reached it. Once outside, she paused briefly as the brightness hit her face, causing her to squint. Once her eyes adjusted, she started walking, taking a deep breath in and slowly letting it out. Cason stole her moment when he came jogging up behind her and spoke, then came up beside her and brushed his arm against hers. She cast a glance over at him. “Hide the knives?” she questioned. “Meaning from me in case I get violent again?” she said, emphasizing the word violent with air quotes. She then shoved him with her shoulder so she could put her jacket on. Holding it by the collar, she swung it around behind her and slid her arms in, then adjusted it around her and the collar. Esme then shoved her hands into her jacket pockets before looking around to see what was nearby, her stomach suddenly growling. She ignored it and continued to look at the surrounding building. “Looks like our only option is that small diner up ahead.” she told him. “I mean, it looks the most promising for a good meal.” she added. As they made their way to the diner, she suddenly got the feeling of being watched, and not my Cason. She stole a quick glance behind her but saw no one that looked suspicious. She looked ahead of them and still saw no one that looked suspicious. Esme tried to shake the feeling and keep her shoulders relaxed, but it kept getting stronger as they walked. Just what I need to start off this day. she thought to herself. And I haven’t even had breakfast yet. she continued thinking. She sighed as she adjusted her jacket around her once again, her eyes scanning everything in sight. “It’s still slightly too early for this.” she whispered to herself with another sigh. “Come on and show yourself already.” she mumbled.
