Appearance: Tall and muscular, reddish-brown hair on his head, a most noticeable scar crosses his face from between the eyes and almost to his upper lip. A pleasant smile that goes along with his pleasant disposition; warm blue eyes and a soft manly voice.

Personality: A gentleman through and through, scholarly and always glued to a book. Would swear his life to save a friend or his dragon. Always has this childlike appearance and attitude. Even though he is a man, his fascination with every inch of something new turns him into a toddler walking for the first time. He wants to learn about everything new he discovers, touch it, play with it. Even if it’s dangerous and could cause problems, Tanis’s curiosity and high interest in the deeper understandings of things causes him to venture forward – with a lack of awareness at times.

Weaknesses: His curiosity has killed several cats in his time, which has caused him a lot of problems in the past. One of which gave him that scar.

Strengths: His extremely high concentration of Chaq is the reason why he is the only successful handler of Gengha dragons. He helps out his uncle Archet from time to time at the hatchery to help new students how to handle their new Genghas. He has other major strengths too – his inept abilities in the six Xims helps to enhance his and his dragons fighting tactics, giving him an advantage that most attackers don’t realize.

Dragon Name: Raifa – Male Gengha (Fire Dragon)

Dragon Color: Red with black stripes down his back and tail. He has a gold chest, girth, and lower jaw, and his scales have fans between them that are also gold.

Dragon's Special Abilities: Firebreather, lava boiler. Can heat up his scales to force another dragon off of him, and has the capability of setting his wings on fire (which doesn’t cause him any damage or pain) to create fire aero attacks like lava whirls, fire tornados, and fury breeze. His claws can also heat up to scar dragons while attacking, or to use for soldering wounds closed.

Tanis, being a Taun, is able to use Raifa as an extra set of eyes and ears, while in flight and when they are apart. And sometimes, Raifa can shrink himself down to the size of an imp dragon, which are small shoulder dragons some Elders and well-to-do members of society have as pets. Raifa does this to get away from people, tucking himself in the pocket of Tanis’ student cloak where it's dark and warm.

Like all Gengha dragons, Raifa has a very deadly bad temper. But, Raifa has strange respect for Tanis – almost a love/hate relationship, if you will. Will be explained in History.

History:

In all actuality, Tanis should be dead.

"When I attempted to make the bond with Raifa, he lashed out and attacked me – giving me this scar. As is protocol, if a dragon attacks their chosen Rider, that dragon will have to be killed. They were going to kill him on my inauguration night... Other than the obvious scar and being a little worse for wear, I begged them to spare his life. For that, Raifa accepted the bond as if to repay that debt over the course of my own life. He's very independent but that's true of all Ghenga dragons. I trust only that my life rests in his care, and that trust is what bonds a Rider to his dragon.”

This expresses just how unique Tanis and Raifa’s relationship is in comparison to the other Riders and their dragons.

Family:

Nessarose Coulp: Mother, Quil's Aunt.

Tanis doesn't know his father. Nessarose and he broke their Union when Tanis was three. He's considered a traitor to Wynn and has been exiled to an unknown planet.
