As a reminder,  there are "safe zones", which is largely where the rangers operate from.  They do search and rescue,  sometimes responding to rare radio signals,  as well as acting as escorts or guides for people brave or foolish enough to travel between the zones. The best and earliest among them had/have a background in entomology,  but this world forces everyone to learn about bugs,  lol. They've been adapting their behavior and habits,  as well,  so,  surprises are still a problem  :P

To this day,  a year after humanity raised the white flag,  there is still a lot of work being done to get an idea of just who all are left,  even passing messages and lists in the vain hope that people separated might be reunited?
