Prince Roux Maori grew up with three siblings in a palace, secluded from all financial or materialistic worries. Having been born the second-eldest, he faces not nearly the same heaviness of responsibility that lied upon his elder brother Prince Enguerrand. Enguerrand, only 4 years older than Roux, fit into his role like no parents could've wished. He was soft, kind-hearted, responsible, attentive, intuitive, full of wit, and rarely spoke back to the Queen or the King. A perfect son, more than they had wished for. Due to Enguerrand accepting and fulfiling his duty as the heir, rarely complaining about his studies, being wonderfully charming with any diplomats or other royals, Roux had an easy life. As second to the throne, he was expected to stand in for his older brother should death strike him down or he been seen as unfit to carry the duty. Enguerrand, loving his brother dearly from the moment of his birth, understood from early in their childhood that the freedom of Roux's life was bound to his own obedience. Being the best older brother he could be, he would do as he was told on one hand - letting his younger siblings feel only a fraction of his own responsibility and restriction - and on the other hand, he would sneak out with them, make sure they had happy childhood stories to tell. Their parents, having little to complain with Enguerrand as the heir, acted more strict in front of people but let the kids feel more freedom in the seclusion of their home. Nevertheless, their lives were full of lessons, studies, and rules. After all, they still represented the royal family and there was always the unspoken possibility any of them could end up on the throne by unfortunate events.
