Dean stared at the ceiling as they laid there. He knew that they were going through this cycle, time and time again. It was part of who they were, together. Even when she was Kenzi, they still went through the same cycles. He sighed, and brought his hand up to pick up her fingers. He brought them up to his lips, and kissed them gently. He didn’t honestly know that he was ready to be back in this scenario with her, but feeling her skin against his lips caused his rational brain to fall away, like usual. “We always end up here…”, he finally muttered, nuzzling his chin against the top of her head before kissing her hair, his gentle way of telling her she was safe with him. He squeezed her hand, sighing. He didn’t want to live, waiting for their next cycle to begin. That would cause him to be more paranoid, and for her, it would be twice as bad. “I do love you.”, he finally muttered, between thoughts. He blanked his mind out after the words slipped through his lips, hating the way the ‘L’ word sounded coming out of his mouth. He cringed externally, his eye twitching, and he shrugged under her head a bit to make her look at him, so he could judge her face.
