A few hours later As the sun began to set, Dean had begun to wind down in disappointment that the day would have to end eventually. They had laughed more than he himself had ever laughed. They had shared a milkshake, causing the waitress at the diner to take a photo of them, to ‘show to their kids’. But he still didn’t have the nerve to tell her how he looked at her, or that he had almost thrown up when they first met, because he wanted to kiss her, but couldn’t bring himself to… She wasn’t just another make out session in the broom closet at school, or under the bleachers. He hadn’t wanted to kiss her, because he was afraid. Yes. He, Dean Winchester, was afraid of a girl. Pathetic. Now, they were walking along a sidewalk, in the dark. It was something that typically kids their age wouldn’t do, even in a sleepy city like Sioux Falls. But Dean wasn’t a typical kid. As a hunter, he didn’t fear things that went ‘bump’ in the night. As he held her hand, something normal to them, he stepped into a sandbox with a large multiple story playground in the center. He turned to her, once they were both in the sandbox and smiled, “Have you had a good day? I don’t…um…I don’t know how dates are supposed to work, or how long they are supposed to be, but you seem happy.” He scanned her eyes, making sure he was right in his assessment, watching how the moon hit them, all the sudden. As usual, he got lost in watching her, taking a deep breath, waiting for an answer.
