While not exactly friendly he has no problem speaking anything on his mind with harsh honesty. He has seen enough of Avalia to know exactly what he doesn’t like and despises the numerous unquestioned monarchies that rule so differently from his own home. While he makes quick judgments of others and is often unforgiving, he also hates to see anyone suffer who doesn’t deserve it. Bowyn has suffered, and while he hates to see others suffer, he also has a strong desire to live. If he can help another without getting himself killed, he most likely will, if the danger seems too great he is more likely to try and save himself. Bowyn is protective of those he cares about, and so to keep himself safe from further pain he tries very hard not to care about anyone besides himself and his village. Though more accurately described as cold than calm, biting remarks and sarcasm tend to be how he lashes out. His temper is always present, but violence is reserved for those that deserve it. There is very little left in the world that Bowyn fears, having experienced what he already considers the very worst of what the world can offer and lived through it. He is not held back by fears or anxiety, though in the face of danger he will always try to make the smart choice, the one that means continued survival. He has the patience to wait for things he wants, more than willing to play the long game but is frequently impatient with those around him. In the end, Bowyn is out for vengeance, to serve the war efforts and see an end to dark elves, and gives little thought to things outside that goal. He uses alcohol to help him get through the day, uses drugs to lift his spirits when the world seems too hopeless to bear, and has tried himself so closely to vengeance that he can see nothing else to live for. What Bowyn lacks in education he makes up for with cunning and adaptability. He catches on to things quickly, works hard when he decides he needs to learn something new, believes in being self-reliant, and does not give up. His social skills are not what they once were, like so many of his kind he too was once an inviting presence with a kind nature. He placed a lot of value in helping others and while that is still there, he also has a habit of trying to push people away. Trust from him is hard-earned, his naivety is gone, and while he hates loneliness he tries very hard to protect himself. His sense of humor has grown dark, mostly sarcastic, and often biting. When it comes down to it his energy level is emotionally exhausted, mentally broken, and physically able to push himself beyond what should be his limits. Bowyn has always been incredibly driven, once his goals are set he will do whatever he can to achieve them.
Background Occupation
Unemployed, more accurately a thief and drunkard
Living Immediate Family Members:
His parents, Birch and Juniper, both alive and well
Dead Immediate Family Members:
None
Current Companions:
None
Current and Past Lover(s):
None
History: Born the only son of Birch Elmwood, a respected leader within the winter village, and Juniper Elmwood a talent healer, Bowyn had a mundane and normal upbringing. He loved to be outdoors, to hunt, fish, and track his own food, to learn to survive with his own skill in the wild, and to feel close to nature. He honed his magic through his appreciation of ice sculpture, loved creating something beautiful to share with the world, and gaining exceptional control over ice through an ability to master finer details. He liked working with his hands and often volunteered to help build homes for others within the village. He enjoyed being useful, helping out his community, and spending time outdoors. He dreamed of one day being a leader within the community just like his father and has always maintained a deep need to see his people protected. As Bowyn grew into adulthood he decided he wanted worldly experience and had a need for at least one grand adventure before he was to truly settle down. So he left his home with a handful of others to see the world, to learn first hand about Avalia beyond his home, and satisfy his wanderlust. He left his village with a kind heart, an optimistic outlook, and a hopeful spirit. Bowyn soon had harsh and brutal lessons inflicted upon him by the world outside his peaceful village. He saw the way the rest of Avalia worked, the slums of other cities, the uncaring monarchies that ruled over so many of the southern territories. His journey led him to venture further, ending up straying deep into a forest where he and his traveling companions were attacked by a small band of dark elves. The terrible thing about fairies and their ability to heal themselves is that it also allows them to endure a great deal of torture. His memories of it are hazy, alcohol helps keep them buried when awake, but in sleep, there is no place to hide from memories that fight to claw their way to the surface. He left the forest half alive, his wings ripped from his back, and the bodies of a handful of dark elves left partially frozen, pieces shattered from their mangled bodies. His magic, a gift once used to create something beautiful, became something he quickly learned to twist, to use for destruction. His optimism vanished, he became a harsh realist, a survivor. He learned to steal when he needed, allowed his morals to become malleable, after having killed lesser sins seemed like nothing. Once he began to hear the whispered rumors of a war against the dark elves, he decided not to return home. He lies in wait for the war to begin, for his chance to kill more of them, to see dark elves wiped from Avalia.
