Dean smiled in relief, repositioning himself under her as she brushed off his being tongue tied. His smile turned into a small laugh as she reassured him there was action in the movie, to keep his attention. He couldn’t help notice how much more relaxed she was, now that he was holding her. She had seemed calmer since the moment that he showed up, which made his mind up…he was staying. He would stay around as long as she asked him to, John be damned. He reached up, as she slept, and brushed his fingers across the black eye that they had both nearly forgotten about, in their peaceful time together. It turned his stomach into knots that someone could do that to a person he found nearly perfect. How could someone hurt her, and bruise her face…specifically her eyes? He furrowed his brow as he thought about it while the credits rolled, a sappy love song he had heard many times over the radio in Bobby’s car playing in the background. He barely heard the door open, as he stared at the side of her face, but when his eyes peered up at the slight click, he froze, staring at the door as her mother stepped into the room. “Um…Mrs. Chambers…”, he started, taking a deep breath, but not moving, “I-um…why are you smiling? I can g-go…”
