Esme Stirling
Esme didn’t know Cason had followed her out and stood back, watching her with Violet. His sudden appearance at her side and bumping his knee to hers caused her to flinch a little and curl more into Violet. After almost taking him out with the other demons, she figured he’d keep his distance for a little while. She kept her eyes closed as he spoke. She knew he was right, but she still couldn’t push the thought from her mind that she could have taken the others out, too. She purposely jumped over his question of if she was okay. She didn’t feel okay and knew how he’d act if she told him. “Yes, I do realize that.” she mumbled. “But…… I could have easily killed the others as well. It was a…… A fluke that the others weren’t harmed or…… Killed.” she continued. The thought of having accidentally killing the others made her sick to her stomach, and she would never have been able to forgive herself for it if she had. She wiped away a tear that escaped her closed eye and sighed heavily, wincing a little at the pain she felt from her soreness. “I’m an emotional time bomb…… I could hurt anyone at any point without meaning to.” she mumbled, becoming drowsy. “I should leave…. Get away from them……. I feel everything they do…… It’s dangerous to stay.” She fell silent as exhaustion finally took hold of her and she passed out against Violet. A tear slid down her cheek and her breathing slowed to show she had fallen into a deep sleep. Her face had relaxed into a soft expression as she slept, it no longer held the pain and self-blaming it had before.
