Miles had already leaned back and looked up into the pure blue above. Imagining the same outdoor basketball court that he played on earlier this morning. As he continued to push himself further forward; like his feet had when they were zipping across the concrete slab. With both of his hands firmly gripping onto the ropes - or rather - what soon became the striped orange ball which determined who was victorious. Counting down the seconds left in his head to make the winning shot, while he was still halfway listening to his friend’s hesitant response. Similar to the shouts that Miles heard from those he blew straight past, on his way to the three-pointer line. Conner’s actually single? He repeated in sheer disbelief. Envisioning his final throw entering through the net, just before the buzzer ran out, and remembering how he turned to look at the sea of begrudging faces of his teammates and opponents alike. As Miles noticed the score had always been lopsided in their favor. Something he probably should’ve known all along...but he was only concerned with being the top scorer on either team. Beginning to skid his velcro shoes across the grass below, until he was slowed to a complete stop. Now snapped back in reality and facing his clearly embarrassed friend, approaching to his side and leaning closer to him. As Miles’ smile had diminished at the line that he seemed to have crossed once again. Does this mean...he hasn’t even tried to confess to the person that he likes yet? Miles concluded, while trying to imagine whoever this ideal someone could be. Well aware of how flirtatious Conner had been, with more than a few of the beachgoers during their months-long journey. Hmm. Well judging by those he’s tried to strike up a conversation with. I don’t think he’d be interested in someone like me. Well, my type I mean. Let alone anyone who only just learned how to swim- Miles speculated in a moment of silence, with his left hand gently scratching the back of his neck. Much better at hiding the emotions behind his returning smile, as he attempted to read Conner’s expression. No—whomever he likes now, isn’t important for me to know. And I shouldn’t be so nosy- He protested, before proceeding to speak out regardless. “Then why haven’t you asked them out yet?” Miles pried, with his blue eyes sparkling. “I’m sure they’d go out with you-” He asserted, with confidence. Although, it was up to how perceptive Conner had been, to know whether or not it was based solely on Miles' own personal experiences. As Miles tended to be the one who got asked out by both sexes, at least a few times since he was in Conner’s company. Always seeming to say yes at every request that came his way, regardless of the circumstances. Although, nobody ever seemed to go beyond their first date, for reasons Miles never spoke about.
