Can't remember how I came across this band, but I have been listening to them since probably 1999 or 2000. A very political band, that was definitely part of the rap metal/nu-metal that exploded in the early 2000s.

The Album that got me into Cancer Bats, who blend punk and metal nicely. Felt like the title track was a worthwhile intro to the band and album. It is a fucking anthem, and full of energy.

UtA is another Canadian band, demonstrating ridiculous skill in crafting power metal. "Apex" is a concept album, telling the tale of an ancient being upon being awoken. Their follow up album, "Abyss" continues the story.
