Born to a small market owner and a construction worker, Tae-Seong was named after his grandfather. Tae was still young when his father died in an accident while at work. Mr. Kim's life insurance barely covered the expenses of the funeral and the company he worked for refused to give anything to the Kims. 

So Mama Kim sued. And won. Just enough money to buy a trailer home large enough for the family of three. Bong-Cha, Tae's older sister, was around seven years old when it all happened. Both her and his mother never really talked about it or his father's death. They only talked about the nice stuff. Like the way he would laugh, or how good his fried rice kimchi was. 

Even without his father, Tae grew up in a loving home. His mother always had small ways of showing her love to her kids despite her strict nature. In the end, she wanted both of her children to succeed in life. Bong-Cha had graduated valedictorian with a full scholarship to UCSLB to study law. Something that their mother was proud of, and now it was Tae's turn to follow in his sister's footsteps. And while he did good in school, got straight A's, and made his mother proud, he wanted nothing to do with law. Tae was a creative boy that loved animals. 

He was afraid to tell that to his mother. The shock of coming out was still fresh in their household. Just a month out, a month that had been filled with tears and arguments that resulted in Mrs. Kim finally coming to terms with the fact her son was gay and accept him with open arms. 

Maybe he should wait another few more months before letting her know about his plans after graduation.
