Name: Adam Kenneth Yearling. Titles: A.K. Yearling. Appearance: Sex: Male. Alignment: Neutral Good. History: Despite its recent origins, barely 200 years old, the Yearling Family had laid claim to a tradition and profession as ancient as the Gods themselves - Storytelling. To them, stories had power, not just to entertain and influence, but also to preserve the secrets of the past while simultaenously revealing them to the present generations. By collecting stories, studying storytelling techniques, and of course, publishing their own, the Yearlings believed they can tap into a source of mystic power neglected by other Magi, and thus find their way into The Root. To summarize: Storytelling is Magic and they want a share of that Magic. Adam Kenneth Yearling was not born as the oldest, the youngest, or the most talented child in the Yearling Family's current generation. While his siblings were developing new ideas for stories, new techniques for expressing them, and analyzing the great works of 20th century literature and movies, A.K. Yearling was just average and was quickly ignored, taught only a portion of his family's Magecraft and the existence of the supernatural in general, and that was a grudging concession, one which other families would not have granted. But the Yearling Magecraft was one which grew with each wielder, as long as the wielder knew how to suspend their disbelief and so not endanger the concept of Mystery, and so A.K. played his part. Then, one day, as the boy grew into his late teens, he realized something: Wherever the Supernatural was concerned, stories occured in real life. Whenever the Supernatural was concerned, events organized themselves into a recognizable story, with a sequence of events which followed certain rules. And that meant that by bringing something Supernatural in nature into any given event, he can turn the event into a story and thus force it into a pattern which he can exploit and manipulate. Not just that, but the stronger the presence of supernatural elements were, the clearer and stronger the following story was. Ambition grew in him - If he can find the Story of the World, then he can find his family's ideal path to The Root! They'd have to acknowledge him at last! And when news arrived that the Holy Grail had been recovered, as well as the Sub-Grails made in imitation of it, A.K. Yearling booked a flight to Japan and rented out an apartment in Fuyuki City, watching and waiting for the time the Prime Grail War would begin... Personality. A.K. Yearling wants to be acknowledged as a Magus in his own right, one just as powerful as the rest of his family. However, he also wants to be seen as a hero or be on the side of 'the heroes', to have moral as well as magical legitimacy. He also has a soft and compassionate side to him which causes him to try and minimize any harm he does and save what innocents he could. This comes from both an awareness that people deserve to be treated decently, and that those who failed to do so were villains who eventually got karmic payback in the grand majority of cases. And finally, he is not a good liar, although he can omit the truth or tell only part of it. Magecraft Quality of Circuits: A Quantity of Circuits: C Elemental Affinity: Wind. Attribute: Reinforcement. Magecraft: General Magecraft - Everything in the 'General Magecraft' section. Storytelling Magecraft (Adam's Version) - Adam can use his portion of his Family Magecraft to see the story-patterns of recent events. And by that, whenever he writes down, recites, or otherwise records the story of his recent past, patterns and clues and 'foreshadowing' which should have been hidden show themselves - Written sentences suddenly dye themselves red or shift to italics/bold font, some words are louder than others, and photographs/video clips close in on seemingly small portions of the 'scene'. This ability grows stronger the more supernatural elements are present in the events which happened, to the point where a fight between Servants can yield a wealth of clues once the story of it has been set down on paper or otherwise preserved. Basic Elemental Magecraft - Adam can conjure and control Wind for combat and utility. Mystic Codes: The Sword of Virtue - An Azoth Dagger which can extend into a longsword when Mana is channeled through it. Said Longsword can also take on the cutting force of the supernatural wind. The Invisibility Cloak - A cloak of fine silk fibers enchanted with layers of illusionary magic, thus concealing the person under them from mundane and most magical sight. And yes, the person hidden in it can see through it as though it were transparent, so it does not blind him. The Journal of Hidden Stories - A leather-bound Journal which boosts Adam's ability to spot patterns using his Magecraft, as well as acts as a lie detector and Mana Compass, projecting a feeling of great cold and heat when it detects either lies or something too powerful for him to defeat. Seven-League Boots - A set of boots (magically disguised as sneakers) which further boost reinforcement directed to the feet and legs, thus allowing a faster escape. Non-Magecraft Abilities/Items: In addition to University-level education (Associate in Arts), Adam is reasonably physically skilled in track and field and fencing and also has a laptop and cellphone and several burner phones.
