Long ago they took part in the slaying of demons, seeking to purge them, but unlike the Demon Hunter Organization they had less qualms about targeting mixed-blood individuals. However, when the era of demon slaying ended in Japan they retired to the shrine their family had cared for over many generations already. Despite possessing notable wealth, from here they continued to hone their arts, combating evil spirits and other unnatural threats to people in their local area as a ‘public service’, performing supernatural investigations when hired, and seeking to hone themselves as individuals through the practice of the arts they’ve continued to pass down and develop since olden times. Discipline, skill, and integrity would be their mantra in said training and hard work, even as they accrued great wealth with other investments, and their work would simply be considered ‘a public service to the people’ on the side by later family heads. It would be this family in the current time period that Suteki was born, daughter to the Family Head and a spontaneous natural talent at the family’s arts. In lieu of her father lacking any talent in combat, despite being a nigh-savant in his own right in regards to purification techniques, she was trained by her grandfather at his insistence in order to “turn her into a proper future family head of the Kiyoraka” in his eyes. To him a family head needed the skills of both war and peace, to fight and to follow both, not simply to be a passive existence. Readiness, in his mind, was the key to being able to keep the family moving forward into the future. However, being the “hardass drill sergeant” he was, the inevitable result of Suteki’s training at his hands transformed her into a powerhouse as both a Shrine Maiden and Magus. She would also undertake, under his tutelage, dangerous tasks and even several near-death battles against supernatural threats sought out to test her mettle and steel her and mould her. Ultimately she would become a physically scarred and forceful individual, the strongest successor to her family since the time of her Grandfather in the heyday of his youth. Still, her father and mother did insist she receive a modern education and such as well. Experience in and with modern society would be useful in navigating her way around things in the world, and in this lone matter her Grandfather was forced to begrudgingly acquiesce. It at least made her “more well-rounded” and rather capable in the modern world, though it was too late to save her personality from taking a shape more like her grandfather wanted. To her peers she was the “alpha female” of her class, the forceful tomboy in personality that had a following of boys and girls after her but barely dated a few of them out of pity or curiosity. She was captain of the Archery and Kendo clubs at some point or another, and proved to be a superb swimmer, but in the end she would get through the end of high school and take to getting a minor degree at college to at least satiate her father’s concerns. With the advent of the Prime Holy Grail War, her family has sent her to participate for a single purpose: Observe the Holy Grail War and participate to try to help ensure the event doesn’t cause a supernatural catastrophe of greater proportions. If that fails, try to help contain such things, and/or acquire the Grail to either fix things or at least contain the damage or ensure a non-disastrous wish can be made on it. This reason comes from a past Subspecies Grail War that occured in Northern Japan, one that had resulted in ‘aberrations’ and evil spirits infesting the area in the wake of the ritual going haywire, all which occurred when one of the remaining masters tried to take the Subspecies Grail early by attempting to circumvent the requirements for its activation. That and someone had set the location half on fire...it was also a cursed fire. Very cursed fire. Indeed, in the aftermath of the event her father ultimately spent three years working at the location with family friends and old connections to repair the damage and remove the aberrations in that particular area under the guise of doing humanitarian work to assist the locals spiritually and financially. Safe to say, Suteki is going to have her hands full if the past Subspecies Wars and old Prime Wars are of any indication. Personality: A serious priestess who takes her job seriously and does serious work, usually, and will strike down her enemy without hesitation if she gets the chance to. A cocky, strong-willed woman who even so still can’t help but toss out a taunt at her opponent here and there and can get foul-mouthed with her opponents in general. She isn’t a total fool all the time, being tempered by experience, and possesses both a compassionate, gentle, and pure kind heart at her core as well as a rather intense hard work ethic. Albeit, she can be rather ‘eccentric’ in ways or at times, as her peers can wholeheartedly attest... Her anger, if incited, is like a ferocious dragon or beast, though admittedly in casual she is usually rather relaxed and openly friendly outside of work. She tends not to care what others think of her and acts with impetuousness, albeit unless she likes them to some extent in turn as a friend or otherwise, and around those closest to her does she show any kind of vulnerability. Her pride compels her to push herself, occasionally too far depending on the situation, but is very much capable of the needed self-restraint to hold herself back at other times as well. Quality of Circuits: C Quantity of Circuits: B Elemental Affinity: Fire Attribute: “Channeling” - An attribute long passed down within the Kiroyaka Family, it has been a staple factoring into their magecraft for generations. When acting as a spirit medium, one is more potent and effective in channeling a given kami or even the spirits of the dead. When casting Fire Magecraft, one’s heated emotions and so forth are channeled into the spell and increase the spell’s output. When enshrining a god into something, the process is more effective and produces a higher-quality and more potent ‘shrine’ as a result. More mana can be channeled into familiars to fuel or sustain them more potently (like a servant), or into spells to increase their output no matter the rank depending on how much more is ‘channeled’ into it. This attribute is not limited to a flatter increase in potency like spells cast with the Reinforcement attribute, but is also at the same time more risky to use since overexertion can result in draining the magus or rapid exhaustion and so forth as a result. Magecraft: -General Magecraft (Eastern): General Magecraft, and all the contents therein, but of an eastern bent rather than a western one. -Healing Magecraft -Fire Magecraft: Elemental Magecraft of the Fire element. -Traditional Shinto Magecraft: The creation of ofuda/omamori, purification rites, performing the sacred Kagura dance, training with and use of the yumi (bow), the practice of kanjo, divination arts, the creation of shrines/the enshrining of the gods into things, creation of sacred tools, shamanistic techniques (such as taking on the role of a spiritual medium), and other such related practices. -Kagura-Sword Combat: A blending of the use of the sword and various forms of the sacred Kagura dance (with both mai and odori styles of movement included) with sword combat, in the end creating a holy and powerful fighting style. A product of the Kiyoraka Family’s research and development over the generations, a super-superb sacred fighting style known as “The Undefeated of the East”. It is more of a blend of the Shinto arts and Japanese swordsmanship, but the mystical elements and effects it can produce as well as what the user is capable of lend it far more towards being distinctly classified here as ‘magecraft’. When combining this with the Kiyoraka Family’s attribute to boot...well, the results speak for themselves rather clearly. ***Note: The aim of Suteki's family's sword magecraft is blending the practice of the Kagura dance with sword techniques, creating a ritual fighting style where the user channels the power of a god (kami) by being possessed by one. Basically imagine the user like a 'living shrine to a god' in this. This in application empowers the user physically, allows them to utilize oracular visions (basically imagine it like revelation, but focused on battle in this case more akin to instinct), and likewise has the effect of the user purifying themselves and the space about them as they use this style. In short, imagine someone using a magical fighting style that enhances them when using it with some magecraft effects tied into it beyond that. Not as versatile as the traditional Kagura dance, since it is all focused on battle, but it makes one rather effective in combat. When using it, she can not only fight well against other masters but even fight well against monsters of battle such as the Executors of the Holy Church. Her family developed this fighting style in their pursuit to slay demons (not like True Demons, that is way different) and other ilk like that back in the day, and have kept working on it ever since. -Familiar Creation (Shinshi): The creation of standard familiars is possible by Suteki and the Kiyoraka, but further the Kiyoraka can create familiars based on the concept of Shinshi (“Divine Servant”). A familiar bearing divinity, or rather a familiar created to be and treated as an extension of divinity really, it’s implementation fits well for the Kiyoraka and their magecraft. ***Note: Shinshi are basically divine messengers, treated as an extension of the kami that sent them to bring a message to mortals. That is the short and dirty of it. So in this case it is akin to a god being enshrined in an object or place or such via Shinto Magecraft, which is a standard thing within that field. This is just using those techniques and drawing upon the concept of a proper Shinshi to make familiars. So imagine the familiar in this case being like a shrine, channeling a probably local kami when making the familiar to give it the 'tint' of divinity and aspect/concept of a "divine messenger" who can be used to send messages (and take messages to bring back). It will also, if a local kami is channeled and made use of, a familiar who will be closer to the land itself and harder to notice (being tied to the area's kami) unless you have an eye to notice something with a tint of divinity upon it (it isn't like some Phantasmal Beast or Monstrous Beast, that be too OP and nuts). Is used as a standard familiar otherwise for scouting or such things as well. Mystic Codes -Shinto Supplies: Supplies to make ofuda/omamori as well as a number of ones prepared beforehand, supplies and tools for performing Shinto rituals, a large amount of standard arrows, means for crafting items used in Shinto Magecraft, divination supplies, purification supplies, changes of clothing, and so forth. All are stuffed into three large suitcases brought to Fuyuki with Suteki. She can carry them all just fine without any issues, though it does get her some raised eyebrows as a result. -Sacred Hama Yumi Bow: One of the tools of a miko, for Suteki using this bow is as natural as breathing air by this point both as a miko and as one who learned archery. Simply plucking the string will frighten away and drive out evil spirits and ghosts and other negative influences. Likewise she has brought a number of fourteen hama ya arrows with her, blessed and prepared beforehand for her trip. A multiple of seven was used when deciding how many hama ya to bring, due to the good luck inherently tied to the number seven itself. -Blessed Sacred Katana: A katana blessed, purified, and ritualistically prepared for use in Kagura-Sword Combat, Suteki is intimately familiar with its use. It is a family heirloom as well, one of several that is rather old and has been cared for over time by the family. It was entrusted to Suteki at a young age with all the importance it carried with it. She has cared for it well ever since.
