Disgusting, too. Rael wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to fight the current that washed away down the massive sewer system. 溺死 She held her breath as best as she could, tightening her grip on two hands. She wasn’t a god. How many people—why was this place built like this? Two different thoughts. Two different questions. There wasn’t a lot of time for it and Rael understood that. She didn’t want to drown in dirty, disgusting sewer water. 溺死 When her breath broke, the taste of it all nearly overwhelmed her. Her brows narrowed, and she pushed upward. Who even knew how to swim anymore? It wasn’t the 20th Century anymore. Water was a precious resource and swimming pools were a luxury. Not that Rael had an issue with luxuries. She was just thankful that she happened to know how to swim and her body in this world was stronger than the one back home. Hanako Moriyama would’ve drowned and not a single person would’ve cared. Weak and nothing. Her parents would only be disappointed that an arranged marriage fell through. The reminder whispered in her brain as she tightened her grip and moved upward as fast and as strong as she could. The enhancement magic coursing through her muscles certainly helped. It helped a great deal. She looked to her side, left-and-right. At least she got two people. The others were either drowning downstream or washed ashore at some other part of the sewer system. Not much she could do about that. 溺死 The water broke and Rael could breathe again. Finally. The red-haired Japanese girl was elated when she reached the stone surface. She looked up—Graves and Alja. Good. She’d kill them if they drowned in the muck. She wanted to be cool and appear awesome but all she could do was cough the disgusting, putrid liquid from her throat. The silver-haired girl did the same, but not before casting some kind of magic and the dingy water was purified in an instant. It may have removed any toxins in her system but Rael knew one thing. She’d never forget the taste. “It'll be okay... it's just... water. Now.” Rael heard the girl’s voice. The healer’s. After coughing for what felt like forever, she waved her off. “I’m fine. I’ll be fine.”
