Rider values strength, and looks down on weakness. This doesn’t wholly extend to just physical pursuits, either. The sort of person who laughs at evil and is angered by do-gooders. Supposedly. Fundamentally, she is the Great Witch of the Holy Mountain who terrorized the countryside as a bandit lord. A great man eating Oni. A kindly healer who protected the peasantry. A beautiful and wise courtesan serving the highest echelons of the Imperial Court in Kyoto. In that sense, then, she is a paradox without a solution. Someone like her, who is a Oni with a heart too close to a human, is full with many weights which pin her heart. Regret. Melancholy. Nostalgia. These are the scars which accent her life, which has overcome and fallen to many traumas over her long existence. Fundamentally, she feels a deep sense of loss over many things. Rather than being taught the human feeling of joy from becoming a mother, she only learned the negativity which comes from betrayal. It’s the sort of abuse inflicted by humans which make their own monsters. That sort of situation. Perhaps because of that, even though she holds a human heart, she cannot fundamentally understand other humans.

Formerly the lady-in-waiting of the Imperial Prince who could’ve been called the forefather of one of the great families of the Heian period. Fundamentally, she was a woman with deep ties to the Imperial clans. As a true Demon Lady, she lived in the generation preceding the likes of not only Abe-no-Seimei, but also Minamoto-no-Raikou and his Four Heavenly Kings analogous to the Buddhist Lokapala. Beyond just her birth, her story started when she travelled to Kyoto and became an important Lady of the Imperial Court almost overnight. Not only was she a first class beauty, but she was also overflowing with wisdom and performing talent. She became a favorite of the Imperial Prince, Minamoto no Tsunemoto, scion of the Genji clan. It was said that in order to gain the Shogun’s exclusive affection, she cursed his wife who was supposedly also her friend. After this accusation from a certain court official, she was exiled from the Imperial Court. Rather than death, mere banishment was handed down because she was already pregnant with that man's heir. In the end, she would never be allowed to see that child. This betrayal, more than even her death, weighs heavily on her heart which has the aspects of not only an Oni, but also that of a human being. In the end, her exile in Shinano province resulted in a national debacle after she became an Oni-like bandit queen who terrorized the countryside. Not only the Capital, but also the Gods and Buddha, deployed the great monster slaying samurai Taira no Koremochi to subjugate her. After her plot to place that man under an eternal sleep failed because of the intervention of the Gods and the Buddha, they clashed within the burning forests of Mount Togakushi. In the end, she was disarmed, but ended up beating him nearly to death with just her fists alone. In actuality, the one who slayed her was his divine sword acting on its own, guided by the Gods. Certainly, it was a death full of only trauma for her. And, yet, her birth- She definitely was a woman who could not exist, should not have existed, and was born to a couple who were infertile and found it impossible to conceive. Rider's sake for existence was a boon to the couple from the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. A thing that should not exist. A thing that could not exist. A ‘blessing’ which overturned the natural order, bestowed by the enemy of enlightenment and embodiment of death, the Mara. Yes. That is certainly her true nature. Monster among monsters. The Great Witch and Oni lady who was exiled from the Imperial Court. . . .But this is not the full truth. The wise woman who healed and tended to the peasantry. The violent bandit leader of Mount Togakushi. A blessing, and a curse. The providence of Kuzuryūshin or the providence of Mara- In this instance which is a special exception among every instance of participation in a subcategory Holy Grail War, she has manifested outside of the Berserker class. As a result, her alignment with Mara has increased, but also her fundamental humanity. It is a situation like that.
Weapon: The Season of Ignorance, Devaputramāra Raga Parameters: STR: A CON: B AGI: B MAN: A+ LCK: E Class Skills: Magic Resistance: C Protection against magecraft. Rather than the resistance demonstrated by Magi which may only reject an incomplete spell, Magic Resistance may cancel a spell entirely. If it is simple magecraft, she can negate it. Nullifies all magic that requires less than two verses. However, does not defend against great magic or ritual magic. Rider is herself a skilled Magus so she has many ways to counter enemy spells with her own power. In combination with her high-speed movement, Rider is an excellent opponent for Magi. Riding: A+ Ability to ride things. As her class container is Rider, this rank is perhaps to be expected. All creatures and vehicles at or below the level of divine and phantasmal beasts may be ridden. It is not limited by any specific mount or vehicle in particular at such a high rank. However, this ability is not usable for the purposes of mounting the Dragon-kind. In Rider's case, she is especially compatible with the Divine Beast Boar which shares her blood, Raga. Because of this unspoken bond, their synchronization could be called perfect. Also extends to certain activities beyond riding 'just mounts', but those certain activities are best left for the imagination.
Oni Kind Demon: A A Skill that represents the superpower and demonic nature of an oni. With the exception of Oni and those that are mixed-race beings with oni blood, one is not able to acquire this Skill. It is a mixed Skill of the Natural Monster Skill, Monstrous Strength Skill, Shapeshift Skill, Charisma Skill, Prana Burst Skill, etc. The form of an oni’s Magical Burst is commonly thought of as something related to “Heat”. In Rider's case, it is a crimson "Lightning". One blow from and oni combining a high rank STR, Monstrous Strength, and Prana Burst would result in an astounding amount of destructive force, devastating the target. Her maple red lightning transformed the entirety of Mount Togakushi into a sea of flames and chaos within a single instant. It was a calamity approaching the class of the 'Great Divine Dragon' whose shard was enshrined within its forests, but its story is a digression. Rider is the child of the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven- the great opponent of Prince Siddhartha who strove to achieve enlightenment. In Japan, Mara is incarnated as a Dragon of shadow who is also sometimes an Oni black as pitch. Although the root of Mara's existence lies within the rationality of the 'Demons' of India, in Japan their form has changed with the syncretism between Buddhism and native Shinto sensibilities. Her lineage as an Oni, at least spiritually, has survived into the modern day. In fact, the child she produced with the Imperial Prince was of the Settsu Genji, relatives of the Emperor Seiwa. After a single generation, the result of this union would produce the most legendary warrior of Abe-No-Seimi's era, Minamoto no Yorimitsu. The inheritance Rider passed down to 'that person' only awoke a little bit, a tiny bit, a truly minuscule amount.
Witchcraft (Oni): B+ Ability to enact the cursing arts. Witchcraft has roots not only in the east but also the west, too. It particularly is a form of magecraft with extremely negative coloring. Many different kinds of black arts can be demonstrated by Rider. Her style makes use of something reminiscent within the Jurasetsunyo methods of the Ten Demonic Daughters of Kishimojin, but it extends past just this. Within the classifications of magecraft, it governs divination that brings about fortune and misfortune, so through this one can govern the social status, wealth, love, and power of its target. Even one's own time and circumstances of death can be attained by the wielder. It is a form of impure majinai which can bring about calamity and disaster, fortune and bounty, hand in hand. Based upon syncretism, it still follows the methodology of the Japanese thaumaturgical formula, using 'Mara' as its basis of origin. As a result, it is an inheritance from the Age of Gods which is utterly incompatible with the likes of foreign magecraft. Momiji is the Great Witch of Togakushi-yama who terrorized the entire Shinshu province from her fortress at the heart of a holy mountain. As a result, she could be called a magic user specializing especially in curses. Although she is known as the Great Witch, the true origins of this skill lie with the Mara, who granted her the attributes of a Witch before even birth as a gift. Something like the magecraft to enact this reality followed as a mere matter of course. Certainly, this is something which could be called a dubious boon under careful observation. Witchcraft in particular is a system which enacts 'phenomena using one's own body'. Not only is her body already that of something inhuman(Draconic and Oni-like), it also falls within the domain of being a manifested curse. In other words, a cheat. She has reached the level of an exception among exceptions through an innate ‘talent’ which outstrips the likes of experience. It could probably be compared to an athlete who uses performance enhancers. Rider has no particular qualms in using this ability, but in regards to the 'pursuit of love' and certain other touchy subjects- there are certain boundaries to not be crossed based on previous traumas.
Six Steps of Impurity: A Supposedly, a mutated form of the 'Saigai Odori' dancing skill. Normally, this is just a type of battle performance art which expresses not only Noh but also Kubuki through various fighting techniques. That is to say, it is an articulation of the conversion of various stories and settings into varied combat skills. 『Celestial Feather Robe』『The Reed Cutter』『Enwrapped in a Bell』『Lady Aoi』 These classic tales are fundamental to the notion of the performing arts of Japan. Of course, the 'Momijagari' itself could be counted among that number. . . . Plays such as these may become a tool for violence when employed by Rider. Stirring up the natural desire to protect such beauty while inflicting maximum violence- it is truly a kind of dance only an Oni-like creature could use. Probably. Within the basis of 'Saigai Odori', Rider's capacity for this skill originates within the fabric of Kubuki itself. In other words, 'the Momiji who fought pitched combat against Taira no Koremochi is synonymous with the Momiji who did the very same while dancing in front of an audience', something like that. At rank A, Rider has already qualified to reach the Apsara. Her movements are not only just like watching the lead actress of a play, but instead also its entire production. However, the truth of this skill is that it embodies the episode of the Buddha's temptation at the hands of Mara's three daughters. Rider- who is herself the incarnation of Mara through a divine blessing, recreated this event when tempting Taira no Koremochi on the mountains of Nagano. To even be in any proximity to her is the same as risking giving rise to an inevitable chain of misfortune and despair that will consume everything. Nothing good can come from watching her dance, no matter its beauty. It's like a sickly sweet smelling plant which attracts insects to itself before suddenly swallowing them all up in an instant. It is a special sort of calamity where the end result will always err toward the worst one possible. To put it simply, if she was in a bishojo game, it'd be like the number of 'bad ends' suddenly doubled without warning.
Mara-Eros: EX Similar to but dissimilar to the 'Demon King' skill. Usually, it exists in regards to certain disparities between the skills owner and perceptions of their reputation before and after their death. This is not the case with Rider. The difference between her nature and the possessors of the ‘Demon King’ skill is like comparing a fake to the genuine article. In actuality, her spiritual origin can be traced back to the primordial Rasetsu who formed the basis for Oni from the start, originally emerging from concepts which came from the west. The Rakshaa who were the female forms of the Rakshasa(Rasetsu) were actually embodiments of misfortune, destruction, and death. This is the primordial origin of Oni as attendants of Hell. However, the true nature of this skill lies with the Mara, who arrived in Japan within the conceptualization of the Rasetsu through Buddhism. Its core is the threefold temptation of the Buddha under the sacred fig, as Mara’s daughters danced to entice him off the path of enlightenment. These three children were not only embodiments of the Three Poisons which prohibited escape from Samsara, but also Mara himself. Thus, ‘to be the daughter of Mara is the same thing as being Mara’. That is the basis of this skill which is steeped in calamity. Put simply, Mara is a facet of her/she is a facet of Mara. That is the truth which this skill governs. That is the truth of the servant known as Momiji. It is an inheritance granted to her before she was born through the providence of the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. In other words, it is like she is a hole in the world which gluttons itself upon the lights of salvation until nothing is left but a sunless Earth under a pale sun whose radiance has been utterly consumed. Going beyond even a burden of the body, her existence itself has been suffused with a nature that has reached the capacity of a living curse- she carries an essence which should not exist, can not exist, should not have been allowed to exist, and should not be allowed to continue existing. To make contact with any form of her true essence is synonymous with touching the wordless horror she is connected to. It is a form of impurity which will send fortune ‘flying away’, a black calamity which swallows up and expels any providence from this world with even a touch. All majesties will lose their radiance and dim before the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven who sits atop the world and poisons every living creature who has attained intelligence. More than a mere ogre-like monster stirs below her outward, false form. After all, her true horns are not those of an Oni, but rather, the horns of one who opposes the Enlightened ones.

Devaputramāra Raga
Great Crimson Miasma of Mount Togakushi Rank: A+ Type: Anti-Enlightenment Range: 2-50 Maximum Number of Targets: 600 people Description: The Great Boar with ashen fur, leering red eyes, and tusks made of an unidentifiable material akin to what modern man designates as gold. Rather than a mere magical beast of the monstrous or phantasmal class, it is a true divine beast who has completely eclipsed the rationalities of magecraft. Not only that, but its physical attributes have also eclipsed humanity as a whole. Its skin, an armor which has surpassed the hardness of any material available in the current era. Its bristles, as sharp as demonic blades which slash through all enemies with the utmost malice. Its bellows and snorts, like the razor tempest winds of tsunamis which devastate entire coasts. Its golden tusks, like demonic spears which could pierce even a tank with ease. Its charge, death. Particularly in terms of defense, its protections and endurance reach the rank of a magical castle wall, surpassing even the dragon-kind. It goes without saying that it enjoys the protection of the Demon King, as an extension of their existence. However, as a boar it also has a temperamental aggression which gives it the capacity to gore practically anything. Demonic boars are particularly infamous for their ability to catch even the likes of Heroes and Dragons off guard. It will eat practically anything regardless of what nature it may have- the likes of magecraft, curses, living organisms, or even the environment are no exception. In terms of speed, its normal maximum is around 500 kph, but this is not applicable when its true name is released. Additionally, it is possible for it to magnify this speed by many times through employment of its ‘true nature’, although this would only be applied as a form of direct travel which has a higher magical energy expenditure compared to normal. Rather than just a mindless beast, it has intelligence as an incarnation of the Mara. But, in terms of personality, it is completely rotten to the core given it is an incarnation of that Great Evil. It is a boar with the atmosphere of spoiled royalty who flaunts their beauty(boarness), considering every lifeform other than it inferior. Perhaps because of this twisted view of itself as a superior form of life, it is extremely smug. As a true monster, it is not above bullying or teasing its master who is synonymous with its daughter and itself, but in the end it's actually quite clingy and attached. It’s ‘that’ kind of 'dere'. Its existence is not truly a blessing of Mara, but in actuality a curse. Thus, it could be called a living calamity which could equal the likes of a 'punishment originating from the Gods of the Celestial Heavens'. It is a limited incarnation of the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, Mara, through the aspect of one of the Three Poisons which enforce the Cycle of Samsara and thus the order of the material universe. In this case, it is aligned with the aspect of Raga which is embodied by a boar which represents lust and attachment. In particular, boars are also associated with demons in Japan, so it acts as a living divine-level protection for the beloved daughter of Mara, Momiji. Just as Mara brought ruin and death upon an entire mountain in a clash against one walking the path of enlightenment, Rider did the same. Its expression as an aspect of Mara is brought to the forefront on a true name release. The Demon King is fundamentally an existence with the power of a 'boundless territory which is the universe inside of their hand'. They are the guardian(jailer) of the wheel of life analogous to reality. In other words, to ride Mara is to ride ‘the universe’. Through the limited application of this anecdote through a charge which replicates the episode in which Mara attempted to trample the Buddha with an army of demonic boar, temporary high-speed movement becomes possible. It is a devastating attack with an atmosphere not unlike the sort of orbital weaponry which drops rods from orbit onto ground targets, or perhaps even the railguns of the near future. Approaching at breakneck speeds, the boar rides a wave of malignancy which is a cloud of darkness embodying the Moha of this world. It is like looking upon a black hole which will bleach everything it touches the deepest black, not unlike a purple shooting star which denies wishes rather than grants them. It is a replication of the attack against Buddha who used the Bhumisparsha Mudra to counter it with the power of the whole Earth. Where it lands, a world where the light of salvation cannot reach will be unleashed- a space which will become the furthest possible area from the divine light, reaching the root of all the world's poison. It is a place which one could certainly only call ‘Hades’, or perhaps ‘Naraka’, or better yet, ‘Hell’.

Avidyā Moha
Season of Ignorance Rank: B Type: Anti-Unit Range: 1 Maximum Number of Targets: 1 person Description: A threefold sword which has a composition of maple and bone rather than the petty materials of man. Because it is a weapon made 'in a style of the Oni-kind', it has already eclipsed the likes of swords constructed from plain steel or iron. It drips with an ominous malignancy caused by the mass of curses and grudges which suffuse it. One can only recognize it as a tool for overwhelming violence at a simple glance. This is a weapon which could be called synonymous with the maple leaf branch she used to clash with the legendary Boshu Taira no Koremochi, who wielded his divine monster slaying sword, Kogarasu Maru. Thus, it is a weapon which could actually be called a crystallization of the event where Rider drew the famous Boshu's entire retinue into an eternal slumber through her performance. Rather than a mundane sword which enacts only ‘just’ physical interference, it is actually a soul smasher which can enact a phenomenon on concepts, laws, or even providence. Affording strikes which affect the immaterial and material equally, it is a conceptual weapon which cuts not only flesh and bone, but also spirit and soul. One could assume it's worth, then, is sending those it strikes to the very same wakeless sleep which took hold of the Emperor-sent Boshu, but its reality is more complicated than just this. This is because the episode of Buddha's temptation by Mara's dancing daughters and her attempted seduction of Taira no Koremochi could be called synonymous. In other words, this Noble Phantasm could actually be called a replication of that event. It is a sword which ‘fundamentally denies enlightenment’ like that of Mara. The process of ascension can only be made through rising above the senses and willfully denying them. In other words, ‘one can only attain enlightenment through the senses’. To remove the capacity to sense is the same as removing the path to salvation. This is not unlike the lapse between the physical and spiritual self where one is lost within the moment. It is akin to the fog of sleep, the enthrallment of a beautiful woman, or maybe even the moment of appreciation a viewer has for falling leaves. This is the ‘dimness’ of man which approaches the state of kenoma which denies the light of salvation. It is certain that only a weapon which itself embodies what it means to watch the maple leaves could be made from maple trees. It is a sword which will separate sense from self with each blow, drawing one closer and closer to a ‘sleep’ they will never wake from under any circumstance.
