There was no hesitation from Myra, making him grin before he sunk his teeth into the kidney he had gripped firmly in his hand. He opened his jaw wide to take in the entire kidney, allowing him to chomp down the organ and chew it in enjoyment. "Such promise, Myra. I hope that my offering provides some sustenance to you" Vrexen enjoyed Myra's participation in feasting on the light elf. If he believed it was in her nature, why was he so surprised to see her tear into this flesh. Perhaps he held more doubt in her than he thought.
In the meantime, Astra made her way toward one of her own that she was somewhat familiar with. This dark elf, despite being many centuries old, had not used much of that vast time to amount to anything but a ferryman for the desperate or the foolish. As he stood at the end of the dock, the sea’s breeze blew at his white hair that he’d allowed to grow down past his shoulders. “If it isn’t my favorite boatman, Traven the Trustworthy.” As Astra approached, her eyes caught sight of the older dark elf’s vessel. It was a small boat designed to appear like an open horse carriage, and on the end of it were four aquatic equestrians known as the hippocampi. The boat was old and didn’t appear to get much attention in terms of maintenance. The horses however were even more worse for wear than the boat was. The bright blue scales on their bodies had lost their shimmer and color, leaving the hippocampi scales to appear faded blue or gray. They also appeared to be older and poorly groomed by Traven. “Trustworthy eh? I coulda swore it were the word Treacherous they used with my name.” “Hmm… True. That is very true, but I trust you. Think of all the times I had to run away from someone wishing harm upon me. Without you, I don’t know where I’d be.” “Prison or dead… or Dead in prison. Keep fuckin’ with the wrong people, and even me and me chariot of merry hippocampees won’t be able to save ya.” He shrugged after speaking his mind, but also knew her life was none of his business. What was his business however, was the amas the woman would provide for his services. It always boiled down to simply that. “Riverport. That's where my party is looking to go.” Astra pretended to visually inspect the watercraft to avoid the perplexed look Traven gave her. “Riverport?! I get that fuckin’ close to Sun Elf Kingdom and ya can count me dead! And no! There ain’t nothin’ you can do or say about it.” He crossed his arms over his chest while shaking his head at Astra who finally looked at him from the corner of her eyes with a slight frown. “Oh come on. The war hasn’t really kicked off yet and what the fuck is the difference between here and there? Those bright fuckers are going wipe everything off this fucking island anyway. I hate when you old decrepit types act like the light elves didn’t send our people here to die. They might have picked that unlivable fuckinh wasteland if it weren’t so close to their shit kingdom! BESIDES! Are you really going to limit your amas-making transporting people to and from Port Vanarosa of all places? You’ll just end up robbed then killed… or killed then robbed.” “Shut your trap you damn infant! No trips to fuckin’ River Port! Oak Island, sure, get eatin’ alive by those rabid beasties. Port Vanarosa, fine, start a pirate band or crew or whatnot. Yenworth, go for it, you might find some adventure on the dullest island in Avalia. But no River Port.” Traven was adamant, and Astra hated it. She lacked many options since civilian amoras leaving Daka Island had been grounded or repurposed to assist with the war effort. “Fine! We will head to Yenworth. I know a few names there, and can probably get someone to take us the rest of the way.” She gave in while looking down the port docks to her demon companions, her mind beginning to scheme.
A few moments later.. Astra was making her way back over with a glorious smile worn on her face. She winced as she saw the bloodied spot where the corpse had been. Disgusting. The corpse had been tossed into the cold sea with its other half as Astra requested previously, but she didn’t care to ask. She quickly put her smile back on to sell her news to them. “I successfully got us a ride to… our destination. It’s on me, but you’ll pay me back later for sure.” It was a promise. “Good. Now we can leave this place, Myra.” “Now let us get moving. The guy taking us is at the end of the dock. He’s an awful person with an awful ship, but it is one of the fastest.” The trio started across the port dock, as Astra continued filling them in. “Fun fact!. He stole it from the kingdom where all the stinky fish people live. The um.. Aquaran Kingdom or something. Anyway, he uses the stinky fish horses to pull his boat-carriage-thing, which makes it go quite fast on the water.” She said, sounding quite impressed by the idea herself. As the three arrived at the end of the docks, Travan, the boatman, was already seated and ready to take off. “What the hell-” “Yes, they’re demons. Paying demons. Now we’ll take our seats and get going, right?” Upon stepping on the ship, Astra felt the familiar rock produced by the waves. “Sure, just keep ‘em well behaved.” “We are not her pets. Provide what you intended. We do not need any more talk.” 2
