[@Hitman][@canaryrose] (and on the side [@Rabidporcupine]) With Rabid's permission, and after having it looked over by them to ensure it is in-line with Grahm/Enkidu's lore and so forth, I present the calculating, the intelligent, and the young hero...Scarab! :golfclap :golfclap :golfclap :golfclap :golfclap :golfclap :golfclap
-Casual/No Costume (the link below)- https://i.imgur.com/TglHMpH.jpg
Scarab
"Request acknowledged. [ APPEARANCE ] Outside of her hero attire, Dawn is someone whose appearance in part speaks of the kind of odd, lab-experimented-on life she lived with her siblings prior to this point. Unnatural ruby-red eyes, pale skin, and her deathly white/greyish hair are all natural to her appearance, all being side effects of years of being a labrat and the results of the work done to her. Even so, these peculiar features of hers have been said by some in the regular, mundane world to have a ‘certain mystique’ to them in turn. To her siblings, though, these features of hers might as well be among the normal. However, her odd features and humble but high-stamina body have inadvertently left some others thinking or assuming she is ‘frailer’ somehow. Her body is lean but not unfit or undernourished looking, with her having undergone training at the lab to build her endurance and stamina up quite a good bit and continuing to keep that up even now, though she does not look like a massive mass of muscle either to be frank. Likewise, don’t expect to see her express much when it comes to being on or off of the battlefield, as her face dons its usual and rather well-kept expressionless stoicism seemingly no matter what. Otherwise she simply looks like a relatively ‘normal’ seventeen year old girl. In terms of clothing, she seems to prefer to use what she has deemed ‘comfortable’ attire. Skirts and comfortable shorts feature heavily in her choices, thigh-high socks are a standard, and T-shirts commonly feature as well. In fall and winter the skirts usually say, but get longer, and shirts as well as any blouses she might wear in this sort of weather become longer-sleeved. When it comes to her attire in the field, however, her style abruptly shifts into: A heavy, long-sleeved, insulated, zip-up trench coat with kevlar woven into it and select ‘pieces’ of kevlar woven into the inside lining for better protection and balance out the weight. An all-weather advanced gas mask with attached ‘headphones’ for comms and filtering out or honing in on specific sounds. A pair of ong dark pants able to withstand wilderness journeys in rough terrain. A pair of tall black boots with steel toes and no-slip traction on the bottom, paired with socks meant for comfort for long treks such as long distance hiking. Beyond this, her hero attire underneath this all is...actually rather light for her torso, allowing her to generate/produce insects easily so they can emerge from the many open points on her attire otherwise. Her attire is breathable/ventilated enough, even the mask oddly enough (she never complains about it at least), to not get overheated in the field. If that ever did become an issue, casting a piece of this attire aside would make her lighter, albeit more vulnerable, and able to handle it. [ PERSONALITY TRAITS ] Intelligent Calculating Diligent Loyal Calm Stoic Curious Emotionally Maladjusted [ BIO ] Subject 36, later dubbed ‘Delta’, was fourth of the seven children considered ‘successful’ subjects produced by the Typhon Project under the direction of The Poacher. She would later serve in the facility and even in the field with The Poacher and her ‘older siblings’, having earned the name “Delta”, protecting her ‘father’ against numerous rivals, outside forces, and even the vile so-called ‘heroes’ when they came into conflict with them. It was a life that would later lead to her and her sibling witnessing the ‘heroes’ they were told were only evil saving their younger ‘sibling’ Epsilon, and ultimately lead to a trail of doubts and secret hunt for information that would bear to them the horrible truth of their lives. Father was no good man, though his end goal was a mystery, and he as well as themselves had performed truly horrible acts over the past years. From here a planned escape and attempted break-out amidst the confusion of a hero raid on the facility they lived in, before Gamma led them to freedom as Alpha and Beta opened the way. However, her secondary ‘nickname’ at the lab, “Machine Delta”, didn’t come without reason either in the past. Even as a subject, Delta came to be withdrawn and rather emotionally detached throughout the experiments to the point she seemed to lack emotion at all. She seemed to become more so under the guidance of The Poacher at that. Cool, calculated, efficient, controlled, inhumanly focused, and intelligent, she was a prime subject who was trained to perform complex operations using her power as a means of infiltration and undertaking covert operations at first. This would later segway into the expanded use of her power to take down more vulnerable targets, targeting key personnel and individuals to bring down enemy operations, and even working on training her very real potential for assassination. She killed her targets without hesitation, and if it meant success in the mission and especially preserving her siblings she would do it without batting an eye at it. In other words, she was like a proper and unfeeling killing machine herself. Yet this aside, she did seem to possess a fondness of her other six ‘siblings’, in part shown by her silent but dedicated aggression when trying to keep them safe and supported in the field. Emotional expression/regulation was never her strong suit by far, however, despite her attempts once in a blue moon. She once brought a treat she stole from the kitchen to Alpha, after a hard mission that saw Alpha injured on her behalf defending her, only for her older sibling’s smile and resulting thanks to cause her to stand totally still and utterly space out without moving for a full hour. When once frustrated by a certain highly irritating day at the facility a few times in the past, she seemed to literally ‘bug out’ in some way or another whenever her anger would hit its peak. Literally. It would make the area she ‘lost it’ in dangerous for a bit until she calmed down or had a sibling or her ‘father’ come in to talk her back down. She would even on certain occasions sit with her younger ‘siblings’ when they were having a bad day...but would just do so mechanically and silently unless asked to leave or until said younger siblings calmed back down. Such episodes never happened in the field, but seemed reserved for when she was back at the facility. It was only when she saw Epsilon saved by one of the ‘so-called evil heroes’ that she hesitated to strike at the hero who saved him. She hesitated. The first time she’d ever had a moment of hesitation like that in her life, it was a shock to her system that sent her mind reeling. Even her hobby of tinkering at the lab, a thing taken up by her own curiosity, could not shake it. It would take being around her siblings to help foster this change in her mindset, but regardless she stayed by their side without needing to think about it. It was as natural to her as breathing air, but over those months prior to their attempted escape she assisted them and would struggle to cope with the reality that she knew to be real now. There were more emotional regulation issues that would manifest in episodes or other little ways, but through it all her siblings were there with her… ...which is what made the later confrontation with their ‘father’ that much harder. Seeing the ‘failed’ subjects unleashed on them enraged her to no end, and Gamma ultimately having to drag her away through the escape path Alpha and Beta carved for them, it was too much for her. Losing two of her siblings that day. Seeing so many others turned into monstrosities, who had once been like her and her siblings at that. She truly went ‘berserk’ for the first time as she was pulled away, a desire to kill her ‘father’ burning in her blood like lava as she struggled to break her sibling’s grip and charge at the man and her insects swarmed suicidally into the horde. She roared in rage and bloodlust, tears streaming down her face like overflowing rivers, and for the first time her face was twisted an expression...albeit now a monstrous visage of raw, pure, and utter fury. She would later pass out after her and her remaining siblings’ escape was finished, exhausted and unable to so much as move her own legs after it all. Bit by bit she pulled herself back somewhat, returning to that same blank stare and expression as she tried to assist Gamma in helping them survive. She could only do so much, though, but fueled by desperation to keep her remaining family alive she pushed herself regardless. She even cast aside some of her own meals for her younger siblings to have just a bit more each, and had even resolved herself to do whatever was needed if things got bad enough. Anything. But please, she couldn’t lose another one. Please. Not another of the only ‘family’ she knew and had left. She had to be strong for them. She had to. In the end, her and her siblings’ meeting with a certain tired-eyed man would give them the chance The Poacher never had. To become a real hero...just like Alpha and Beta had become. So that became the desire and life goal she etched into her heart, second only to keeping her family safe. She would seek to learn everything she could about the world, read every book, take every lesson, train until her body gave out, anything to become a true and proper hero. She would pay any price to do her best, to ensure others had the chance her two oldest siblings never had. The world needed heroes, and so she would rise to the call in turn...no matter how hard the road ahead. | MISCELLANEOUS | She is definitely not a fan of pranks. Dangerous results emerge if pranked. Literally. ABORT, ABORT- She does enjoy incredibly spicy foods, and can withstand strong flavors to the point she once ate a bite out of a whole piece of garlic without batting an eye. It was a learning experience, and a prank performed on her, but she didn’t even flinch or anything afterward. [s]She only swarmed the cook who pranked her with it, as it was the first time she’d ever seen proper garlic, and both the kitchen was unable to be used for the next 12 hours and the prank puller had to be cared for medically for several days due to the numerous and not light injuries he received that day.[/s] Was once dared back at the lab, by a couple of workers, to eat durian...she did it. Hasn’t been a fan of dares since then. She also seems to prefer warmer weather to the colder sort. Like herself and some of her older siblings, she has field and combat and such related experiences under her belt already.
[ RANKING ] C (or C+? Not sure on the ranking. TwT) [ POWERS ] Before the experimentation performed on her as a subject of the Typhon Project, Dawn actually possessed a superpower...albeit one that had not yet awakened. Her hero gene had yet to activate or kick into action, she being a case of a ‘late bloomer’, thus when experimentation began it would ultimately change the nature of her power once it finally did emerge. Originally her power was one that would allow her to transform into a dense black fog and back to normal, as well as produce/generate this dense black fog in turn as a secondary capability. The nature of this fog would have been unknown, but likely would have had a unique nature or effect when exposed to it or being within it. Due to experimentation, however, her power no longer allows her to transform into a dense black fog...but instead a great swarm of alien-looking insects 1.5x as big as the insects in this picture. She can also secondarily generate these bugs from her body, this instead of the original secondary of producing/generating the fog from herself in turn. In other words, the fog was simply replaced with insects. The bugs are themselves an extension of herself in turn, moved about and coordinated by her and so forth as easily and naturally for Dawn as breathing is.
Their bodies are covered in a light gray carapace, bearing three sets of sharp-footed legs that can grab hold of things efficiently. They also have a pair of two-jointed and rather capable ‘arm-legs’ that emerge from a bit behind the head, which can be used to grab things as well as act as another set of legs in a very flexible and versatile fashion, the ends/tips of which are sharp and can pierce through flesh with ease and grab hold onto things generally effectively just like the legs can. Each bug also has four dark red eyes on its face, and a powerful set of jaws that can bite through even hardened steel and chew it up. This is paired with a very potent acidic substance in their stomachs they use to digest said metals and whatever else they eat rapidly, which acidic substance can even digest metals and glass much stronger than what their jaws are capable of biting through. This acidic substance can be spit up onto things as well, a nice bit from each individual insect, albeit this is not ranged and is not a ranged attack. Rather it is simply applied by the bugs landing on something and spitting up on them akin to a fly. The ‘tail’ is a two-jointed piece of carapace akin to an arm or leg, but longer than the ‘arms’ or ‘legs’ and having a highly sharp blade-like end on it, one that might as well be a scalpel and is capable of precise movement and being whipped down underneath the body to cut into or pierce targets. Can also be used to scratch even strong metals and types of glass, but not cut through them. The bugs can be used to set up an external nest to breed and propagate beyond Dawn generating/producing them herself. A more long-term and slower process, though, which is far from battle-ready and only makes this function useful to create extra insects to store a mass of them up for later use. (Also good for keeping pests out of HERO’s buildings alongside the usual pest control measures. XD)
-Weaknesses- The bugs might be big and frightening looking, but they are also able to be killed like any other bug. Smash. Squish. Crush. Crunch. Zap. All of the good stuff. That is the main reason they are used in numbers for any sort of combat situation. If Dawn turns into a swarm of bugs and too many of them die, she cannot change back to her normal human form. Kill all of her bugs in this scenario, and ensure no more are alive elsewhere, and Dawn is just ‘dead’. Literally. Fully. Completely. No coming back. (Instead, in this case of being unable to transform abc she has to use the remaining bugs she has to set up and grow more via a nest/hive the ‘old fashioned way’. Then when she has enough insects, she can gather a mass together to transform back to her normal human form.) Proper insecticides are not only rather effective against her bugs, but also are just as effective against her in her normal human form as well. Ouch. She is a normal human and the insects are both not super durable by any means. She is normal human durability, insects are dangerous but just as squishy as any other insects. [ PHYSICAL STRENGTH ] ■■■□□□□□□□ Standard human strength. [ AGILITY ] ■■■■■■■□□□ In her normal human form she is a 3/10. The bugs are far more agile, albeit small as well, than she is normally in her human form, being a very solid 7/10. [ INTELLIGENCE ] ■■■■□□□□□□ A ‘savant’ for knowledge and learning since after escaping the lab and finding help. An avid reader who can knock out reading books in record times, and already familiar enough with internet use through many hours of ‘research’. Etc. She isn’t some super genius who can do fifty thousand things, etc, but in terms of her capabilities in learning and processing/integrating things mentally she is rather adept indeed. A splendid learner. [ DESTRUCTIVENESS ] ■■■■□□□□□□ As destructive as swarms and nests of killer insects that can eat metal and have powerful digestive acid can be. Can be destructive, but depends on what or where is targeted. Being really destructive requires significant time and effort unless it is a special enough case, at best, despite the capabilities of the insects. [ LETHALITY ] ■■■■■■■■□□ Destructive? Not so much. Lethal? Very much yes. Powerful bugs that can slice, spit up acid on, puncture, and chew through people are very much lethal. Especially since they are normally used in swarms. Big swarms. [ ENDURANCE ] ■■■■■□□□□□ Possesses abnormal endurance, and has done endurance and stamina training for...as long as she can remember at least. Isn’t superhumanly durable, but can force herself to ignore her own pain and push through it even in...ahem...not the best of shape by far. In that manner she is kinda creepy and robotic. 5/10. [ EFFICACY ] ■■■■■■■□□□ A generally rather efficient power, versatile and capable of both attacking and things such as infiltrating and spying beyond that. Not too destructive at all, not the strongest power at that, but the user can be generally useful in the field as well as outside of it. 7/10. [ SKILLS ] Jujitsu and Judo (Non-strength reliant combat techniques and martial arts in case of close combat) Infiltration Espionage ‘Cooking’ (Not Really; Aka, don’t let Dawn/Delta cook, for the love of all that is good just don’t.) Endurance/Stamina Training Video Games (as of late) [ EQUIPMENT ] Phone (How did she manage to get this?) Wallet (Seems normal enough at least.)
