I like this... The Rebellion is almost exclusively human, so her use of her powers is more likely self taught. I think it's a good thing she met up with them, the odd weather phenomenon combined with her tag might have made it easy for Sir Ram to hunt her down, but I also just kind of assume her tag was damaged or shorted out in the accident. A serious advantage, to not be tracked :P
