[sup]Inanna – goddess of beauty, love, and war – is featured in a whole host of myths and poems from ancient Sumer, where she had her main temple in the city of Uruk. She is temperamental yet powerful as shown in the poem ‘Inanna and Ebih’, in which she destroys a mountain for being too beautiful and not bowing before her. The selfsame traits make her prone to hubris, as shown in the tale of her descend into the underworld. Her goal was to rule Kur, the Babylonian underworld ruled by her sister, as well. However, the seven judges ruled against her and as per the law of the underworld, she could never leave again. No gods wanted to save her, as they said that her fate was of her own choosing. Only Enki chose to help her and convinces Ereshkigal the ruler of the underworld to let Inanna go. But Galla demons chased her through the gates of the underworld and demanded someone to take her place in the underworld. Three mortals were one by one requested and every time turned down by Inanna. When the goddess learned that her husband, Dumuzid was lounging and enjoying himself instead of mourning she – in her scorn – offered him up.

However, there is one more tale that reveals more about Inanna than any other. When Enki created the world, all gods were given their [i]me[/i] - their domain - from him. All but Inanna, who complained about this fact. Yet Enki said that she already had her domain. For deep down, she is the lady of Conquest, shown in the poem ‘Inanna Takes Command of Heaven’. [sup]The first few days of Inanna’s existence on earth are written in blood. The goddess of war and conquest had found herself in the midst of the greatest war ever. How could she ever ignore such a siren song? She fought first against and then with the Allies as far as the Colossus would permit her. After that fell the deafening silence and Inanna found herself disgusted to be left in the ruins.

Luckily for her, the Colossus was soon moved towards London. And while the streets of the city were strangely absent of gunshots, Inanna still realized what kind of an opportunity laid before her. However, she was a woman and the post-war UK was hardly a place where their voices were heard. It took decades for Inanna to work herself up, tear it down (to hide her identity), and try again. Eventually, she gained a post in White Hall – in the department of foreign affairs - amongst the stuffy suits and immediately got to work. Under her direction, UK-based mercenaries were sent towards the far corners of the world. For a while, it felt as if she was conquering again. And even though she could never visit those lands, she made sure her connections brought plenty of gifts back.

But every time she felt like she had conquered a country (even her former home), a few years later it would descend into a useless quagmire again. No, conquest far away wouldn’t yield her much satisfaction anymore. As if fate, a year after that realization the Colossus – gripped by something as vile as a public museum – was moved from the UK to Washington D.C.

In London, Inanna had sought to conquer beyond. In Washington, she knew she had to conquer within. Eanna Council Consulting was formed the moment she set foot in the US. Two years later her firm gained its first ounces of fame (or infamy) by lobbying hard for several banks. She had built her empire in less than a decade and wasn’t shy of showing that off. And then the Colossus moved again.

The move to Seattle for Inanna personally was easy enough. She made sure that several key people would keep visiting her even in Seattle to assure her iron grip in Washington D.C. Still, she was highly inconvenienced and that was insufferable. It was high time to assume ownership of the Colossus.[/sup][/quote][/indent][/indent][/indent][/cell]
