Yup, gradients are tricky, and I used this tool to make it happen: https://www.stuffbydavid.com/textcolorizer . Initially I wanted to do an even more complex gradient that would start from the center, to make it look even more like a lightsaber but I decided it wouldn't be worth the time it would take to code my own script to make that happen even assuming I wouldn't run into some issue involving text spacing.
