“Father lost whatever love he had for me when my mother died.” Elissa said softly. “But it’s fine.” She didn’t want them to pity her. “I have my crew and the sea, what more could I want?” She wanted her friend back. She wanted him to remember her. Elissa looked to Rhea when she made her remark. “Sometimes people are kind even when they don’t want to be.” She responded in an even voice. She was disliking Rhea more and more. “Father loves money and so I sailed for him and it made both of us happy. He got money and I got to sail.” She smiled at Pete and how engaged he was in her story. “What other adventures would you like to hear about? Any of you hear of Eli Bishop?” “You know Eli Bishop?” Adam asked, looking incredulous. “He’s one of the best merchant sailors around. Rumor has it that he has never lost a shipment to pirates.” “The rumor is true.” Elissa nodded. “But no one mentions that Eli is actually me.” She smiled. Elissa was enjoying the attention. It helped her forget that Joseph didn’t remember her and for once she felt wanted, even if it was just to entertain the pirates.
