I disagree. By giving our characters their opportunity to engage in the seemingly mundane, we free them to share thoughts about the current task or situation, their relationships with other characters, the personal demons with whom they struggle, etc. Hook is a man with more than one story to tell. Something as simple as recognizing the brand stenciled onto a sack of rice could peel back another layer of his character. I love the way these characters are growing.
