Hello! I’m Kymera! I’ve been on and off the site a couple times over the last few years and have finally hit a point where I want to hide from the real world by writing about a completely made-up one! And while I could do that alone, it’s lonely and boring. So I thought I’d drop by here and see if anyone is interested in a 1x1 and willing to tolerate me for more than 5 minutes! So to those of you reading this now that haven't run off, a couple disclaimers:
1. Gotta be 18+. Sorry, non-negotiable. There usually ends up being some adult themes and I will not write them out with someone who isn’t and adult themselves. 2. Looking for partners willing to write in the “Advanced” spectrum. The more you give me in a post, the more I can give you back! You don’t need to hand me a novel every time, but I do ask you make sure there’s something for me to work from, and I’ll be sure to give you the same! 3. I like a bit of romance, so long as it develops naturally. Characters that make lovey-dovey eyes at each other at the start irritate me. It’s a good tool to make the plot more meaningful and drive character motivation. This means no smut for smut’s sake, either. Once things have developed properly, then sure, but not before then. 4. I will write out the sexy-time scenes. There might be occasions where FTB is acceptable, or even needed for the overall flow of things, but for the most part, I’ll write it out. HOWEVER, SEE RULE 4. 5. I run M/F plots. It's not that I have issue with F/F or M/M plots, I just am not versed enough in them to do them justice. 6. I typically play male characters, but can play females too. I also don’t mind running several characters at once. 7. I like to chat OOC too! I enjoy getting to know people! 8. Last but not least: FEELS. I cannot help it. I want to make stomachs twist into knots and cackle evilly on the other side of the screen. I enjoy writing in a healthy dose of angst, provided it suits the story/character arc. I can’t stand plots that go from one happy event to another and everything is perfect. I’ll be more than happy to write a bit of fluff now and then, but you’d better brace yourself because it means something awful is coming.
Ok, I think that’s it for the little blurb about rules, and a little about myself! I’m an avid roleplayer, both online and IRL. I am a veteran LARPer and have been a part of 3 different games over the years and am working on getting together the cash to buy some land where I can start to bring these fantasy worlds to life. I’ve also run an online RP forum for a number of years where I met some truly awesome people. Beyond that, I’m a major geek. DC (aka: BATMAN) all the way for me. I love video games and while I have a soft spot for RPG’s, I will never understand how StarCraft of all things managed to tell a better story through a friggen RTS than most games ever will. Seriously. Kerrigan is my favorite thing ever. I like to craft and do leatherworking and various other things that catch my interest. Right now, it’s 3D printing, so I’m likely to be found swearing at my printer for some problem or another as I muddle through the technical world of “How the **** does this work”. I've also started to dabble in coding and electronics, so I may be typing in a haze of the dreaded "blue smoke". Fair warning, my job does require some travel time out of me, which means I can end up in BFE at a moment’s notice without an internet connection. I will do my best not to ghost on you, and give you some warning, but there are times when that gets left off the Things-to-do list as I’m frantically packing to catch my flight. If you don’t hear from me in a few days, give me a poke. There’s a good chance work just drug me off behind a frozen shed in Wisconsin or something. The good news is that I've finally ditched the freeloading roommate and got my life into some kind of workable order, and now will have some actual quality time to get back to the thing I love doing most! But beyond all that, writing is, has been, and will continue to be my favorite pastime. I like to make stories fun and memorable, as well as do things that will give your heartstrings a couple of good hard yanks in the process. Here’s my current craving, but I’ll see about adding more if I don’t get any hits here!
They say magic used to flow like water before the war. That it used to be nearly every other child would awaken some manner of arcane talent before their adult years. But it’s been nearly a century of turmoil and conflict between Tyris and Condrin. The mages who pledged themselves to military service were the first to fall to the ravages of war. Then the scholars were conscripted into service, pressganged into trading their ink and parchment for fire and steel. When the universities were emptied, that’s when the kingdoms turned to their own people. Soldiers swept through cities, towns, and villages alike dragging away any and all with the smallest glimmer of talent away to fuel the ever-churning gears of war. And still the soldiers sweep through the countryside, even 100 years later, still looking for any hidden gems that have slipped past their net. Some say the Capital still roils with mages, kept and bred like prized cattle to preserve the arcane talent of the kingdom, and with war endlessly raging on, perhaps it must be true. Which is why it’s strange that there’s someone who’s taken to living in the old watchtower beyond the fields of the village. It was months before anyone even knew of their presence, and months more before they first ventured into the square, peddling little charms and keepsakes against the superstitions that plague the common man. Sometimes soldiers left the hedge witches, seeped more in fallacy than magic, alone when they made their yearly march, so no one thought much of it at first. There was no wealth to ply from the fingers of those who had none, and the charms were innocent enough. A ward against bad dreams, a balm to ease the labor pains of an expecting mother, a good luck charm for the hunters hoping to bring back just a little extra for their tables. Perhaps all that was sold were false comforts, but many found their nights easier, midwives found fewer mothers succumbing to the rigors of bringing new life into the world, and the winter months were never quite as lean as they once had been. No agreement was ever penned, no payment ever switched hands, but three years the soldiers came and went without anyone breathing word of the vagrant who’d taken residence in the old watchtower. But nothing in the world can ever last, even the stalemate that’s lasted for generations between two warring kingdoms. Now the conflict draws close and the unspoken peace is about to be shattered at last. Just as a quick, not-so-wordy summary, two kingdoms find themselves at war and mages are in hot demand by both to the point where most are either conscripted or in hiding. Things will take place in this little village near the border but can be a part of either kingdom if you happen to have a preference. I would like the overall theme of this to be essentially Mage/Apprentice, so YC has some magical talent, but little actual training. Maybe they’re already in the military, sweeping this sleepy village for others like them. Maybe they’re someone in the village who’ve just started to realize they can’t hide their magical ability any longer. Maybe they’re a thief trying to sneak into this old tower they’ve heard about…. The choice is up to you! I would prefer YC be female, but we can discuss that a bit if you have ideas! I’m certainly flexible, so don’t be afraid to pitch something to me!
That’s all for now, but if you’re interested, please send me a PM and we can talk more!
