Lesson of the past few months: Contractors are overpaid & useless. (Sorry contractors, but according to most of your own conversations, everyone else you know completely sucks at this job too.)
Beginning in the 1980s, there has been such a push for young people to go to college in order to "better themselves". Children from families who have traditionally worked in vocations or manufacturing now have Bachelor's and Master's degrees and are unable to find jobs in their chosen profession. There is a decided lack of artisans in plumbing, electrical, masons or carpenters. They are able to charge higher prices due to an expanded need, but not enough people to perform these tasks. If you have a Master's degree and can't get a job. Go learn a trade. Be a plumber.
