If there's one thing she isn't too good at, it's being serious and solemn. It's hard for her to rein in her emotions, to restrain herself. She's warm, friendly and very affectionate. She likes to make people laugh as much as she likes laughing herself. She has a comfortable aura despite her lack of confidence in herself. People warm up to her quickly, though some may be annoyed at her bubbly exterior. She is far too forgiving frequently causing this attribute to be abused. She is insightful and aware of this flaw; nonetheless, she finds herself overextending on another's behalf quite often. Ari can come across as fragile but she holds her own. What she is unable to match in athleticism or tact she makes up for with instinct and knowledge. Not prone to violence, she prefers to talk her way out of a situation. Her natural charisma has saved her hide on numerous occasions. She can be very playful and teasing, generally always having one or two inside jokes running around. When she is doing something absentmindedly you will find her humming. Star can be embarrassed relatively easily. She doesn’t feel the need to always be in control of life, though at times she can be very independent. She carries around a lot of doubt, especially with her relationships to the society and about herself, deep down and does her best to hide this major flaw. She’d rather lock emotions up and just "be happy", a consequence of her upbringing. Unfortunately, every now and then, these fears escape in the form of hot tears in the solitude of the night.

Motivations

She is motivated to find a world like the ones she reads in her books. She knows that the safety of Paradise is faltering despite the Council's reassurance. She wants to find a way to survive without being a caged bird. A part of her heart will always foolishly hope for a cure.
She wants to prove herself as being useful. She has felt helpless to a degree since the day her brother died; that had she'd been stronger or more prepared he would still be alive. She wants to make him proud, to prove to him she will survive. Most importantly she want to believe in herself.
She wants to lead by example. She dreams of leading the people of Paradise to a greater good that doesn't just shut out the rest of the world. She believes there is a way other humans can come together and rebuild in a way greater than just living day to day.

History
Though living in the safety of the Core, Ari's family derived from the rustic housing found scattered in the lanes. Her home life consisted of a father who was determined not to be a deadbeat, lost at what to do, but always with the best intent. Her brother on the other hand was a force of nature, paving his way, determined to make a name for himself amongst the honor of the lanes. Her early years were filled with laughter, mischievousness, and one or two broken windows. Skies filled with moonlight as her brother told heroic stories of old, magic at every turn. The memories are like a fireplace on a cold winter night, lights flickering, for a moment promising a future of happiness.... only for a moment. The safety of the walls and promises made by Council members made everyone forget. Efficiency of raids made everyone complacent. Made everyone forget the monsters under the bed. Maybe her father really was naive enough to think the bite mark on his ankle was just a boogie-tale of the past. Maybe he just didn't want to see the fear in his children's eyes knowing their fantasy was coming to an end. Whatever his motives may have been, he decided to come home that night. In doing so, he permanently ripped the pages of Ari's childhood to shreds. Even now they come like photos of an old camera. Him becoming ill over the next day. Click. Her brother working tirelessly to replace the wet rags, attempting to bring down his father's fever. Click. Blood splattering the walls as her father ripped his son's throat, gnashing of teeth. Click Or the gunshots of the neighbor who busted in after hearing the commotion. The same gunshots that rang until the magazine was emptied. The awful ClickClick Click! of trigger striking the empty void ripping through her heart. It was the scribe of the Council member who answered the door to the headquarters that night. Her soft eyes and warm touch held Star as she crumbled in the weight of what just happened. Soft hands stroked her hair and she cried for hours, days, weeks. It took years for her to stop having the nightmares. To this day she cannot stand the sound of gunfire, let alone hold a gun. Nonetheless, she moved forward. Forged by the hands of her new caretaker, she finally learned to see the sun again. Notwithstanding, she will never forget the monsters hiding in plain sight.

Society Role/Faction
Star is a dedicated member of the Keepers for which she takes her job very seriously. She has been trained in the library since she moved into the Core at age 10 and was taken in by a scribe of the inner Council. Ari has been taught to further her studies in celestial navigation. On her 18th birthday she was granted a sextant which remains on her person at all times due to its inexplicable value. She will eventually be trained in assisting the Reapers with navigation and working with cartographers in mapping out raids. In the meantime she is posted in the nonfiction portion of the library and helps with overseeing inventory and categorization of the books. Though she does get to sort new books brought in from the raids, she does not get to read them until they are brought before the Council. She does sneak a peak from time to time. During her community service days she will be found helping to clean or organize areas of the plaza. Keepers rotate between this job as they are deeply rooted in humility. This reminders her to leave the world of her studies and to consider her surroundings. She gets the opportunity to gauge satisfaction of the people with the current government, policies, or procedures. This information is often relayed back to the Keeper Council member. In her spare time she enjoys working on her rooftop garden and studying the medicinal arts. She has scattered notebooks scribbled with drawings of herbs, anatomy, and chicken scratched notes.

Inventory

In her pocket is always a laser pointer and small smoke bombs for distractions (raided from a firework stand) (most still light)
She always keeps a small pack on her side with basic medicinal items. She also has various herbs grown on her rooftop garden for the same purpose. A wallet sized metal clutch holds small scissors, a scalpel, two syringes, needles, and thread. One ace wrap and rolled cloth fills the rest of the space. Without it on her she feels lost and useless.
Hatchet on thigh holster made of leather, remains meticulously sharpened. This is her last resort item.

Other:
Despite still having PTSD regarding the death of her brother, she still has a preference for nighttime and it is a comfort to her. She continues to study the stars and knows them like the back of her hand. She is also aware of her role as a supporting character and knows she would not be able to venture out on her own despite wanting to escape the walls. She is a strong and independent individual who does not need your approval. In Dee’s eyes if you have a problem with her that is your problem and maybe you need to change your perspective. Her closed-mindedness is a character fault that derives from the way she was raised and her stubbornness has caused for it to be deep rooted. They say that anyone can change; however, the likelihood in her case is not high. Her tough and determine demeanor allows her to intimidate most into either staying out of her way or giving in to her desires. Deeandra realizes that it is easier to attract people and make friends with kindness, but after the cards that the world has dealt to her she does not care if she is Miss Congeniality or not. If one expects to break through her hard outer shell to find someone warm and cuddly they will be bitterly disappointed. The world has burned her and she locked away her childish dreams of a ‘happily ever after’ long ago. Luckily, there are some positive qualities beneath all of the prickles that are Deeandra. First of all she is always honest, brutally though. Unless you want the whole truth and nothing but the truth, do not ask her for her opinion. She will tell you in the bluntest fashion. She disdains two faced people and liars. She does not like to dabble in gossip and finds it to be an immature waste of time. She is not overconfident and is very result oriented. People who are all talk annoy her. She is rather unforgiving to mistakes especially if they put the lives of the group (her life) in danger. She is the queen of sarcasm and venomous comments. If you can hold up with her in an argument you will gain major respect on her part. She is tremendously defensive over what matters most to her (being what little that is) and she is not afraid to stand up for it or fight for it. She might suffer a few bloody knuckles and some bruises but she will come out on top. The only soft spot she possesses is for her little sister (who was bitten shortly before Dee joined the Rogues) and (if the time comes) her romantic partner. If you do manage to somehow deal with her and become her friend you will find slightly less bitter comments towards you and that her less violent ‘hatred’ is how she shows her love. At this point she will begin to kid around with you and you will see that the devil’s mistress has a sense of humor. She spends a lot of time worrying about her sister being killed by someone (she was unable to do it herself) and wanting to find a cure to save her. She views this as a weakness and hates this about herself. She knows that in reality this is an impossible tasks even if reality was destroyed the moment the outbreak happened generations ago. She wants to go off to someplace safe and far away with her sister, far away from her past and her present. She knows in the end that she can’t go back. She’s use to loss and sacrifices. At least that's the lie she tells herself.

Motivations

Survival. Dee does not want to die. She is not about to let the f**ked up world have its way.
A part of her will always be fighting to find her sister, even if a part of her doesn't want to see her sister that way again. She is often pestering around for Intel on any type of cure, even if the world around her has found another way to move on. She knows it is a fools errand.
Refusal to settle. There will always be this false hope in her heart calling her to go beyond the walls and find a new sanctuary. This urge to run away is a flicker of her childhood trauma.

History
Dee’s parents were nothing but useless. She lived with her father, an abusive alcoholic. At one point she had a mother, but eventually she left after she decided she couldn’t take another beating. Her mom left her and her sister behind to deal with their father alone. Dee was eight at the time. Whatever money they had was lost at the stark price of his addiction. When she was twelve they lost their home in the lanes and was forced to lived in the dilapidated remains of the outskirts. Whenever their father would drink he would beat Dee; her protecting her little sister only incited his rage further. He blamed Deeandra for their whole situation and used her as his sick scapegoat. As she got older she only became more desperate to escape with her sister in tow. She inevitable was able to get a job at the bar (a venomous sting to their situation) doing whatever needed to be done to reach her way out. When she turned 18 she had finally saved up enough to afford a cheap apartment in the lanes. She moved her sister in and things finally seemed to start turning up. Dee’s sister was one the only thing that kept her going and held the last soft spot in her heart. She would do anything for her. Their father became a ghost and went missing, likely due to his climbing unpaid tabs. To her it was a good riddance. Dee hated the bar. The guys were always hitting on her and the older women look at her with scorn, as if she was a despicable human being (the price of her father's name). Everything reminder her of the past she wanted to cover with gasoline and burn down with flames. They only thing that kept her going was her sister. She was like the sunshine through the clouds. Dee wanted better for her than "Paradise". This seed of hope was their downfall. In an attempt to find a new sanctuary, Deeandra took what belongings they needed and encouraged her sister to leave the safety of the walls. She and her sister took off from the city under nightfall (all too familiar with the weak points in the walls from their time in the outskirts). A two day journey and they found themselves a few miles from another town. They began to close in on the area at night, deciding to sleep in an abandoned house due to the incoming weather. Perhaps it was the thunderstorm outside giving a false sense of security. Perhaps it was a foreboding sign. No amount of intuition could have prepared Deeandra for the moment her earth was rendered asunder. Looking for supplies Dee was upstairs when she realized they were not alone. The stone in her stomach grew larger as she realized the slump on the floor was a body. Even more so when it began to move. It was a trap. Taking her 9mm she fired several rounds, brain matter spewing across the floor. Realizing the danger, there was no time before she heard her sister’s scream. Pulling the the shotgun off the corpse and loading it, she ran downstairs killing the other lone zombie only to find her sister bitten. There was nothing they could do. Dee, unable to take her sister's life, shoved her sibling into the downstairs bedroom before barricading the door. Unable to leave with thunder and rain raging, she spent the next 24 hours listening to the life of the only person who mattered to her be ripped away as a monster was left behind. She spent weeks wandering around the town in a daze. It was a member of the Rogues who found her, bitter and empty. It took two years for her to bounce back, become a human again. She climbed her way through the ranks and became a trusted member of the faction. She will never forgive herself for that night.

Society Role/Faction
Deeandra has been a member of the Rogues for the last three years. Even if she is not well liked, she is well respected by all the members. She admires their leader and is willing to fight for his beliefs. She agrees that the militia presence in the city means nothing if they are corrupt. She has seen her fair share of people in power hire the Rogues for their own selfish desires. Despite being a hard-ass Deeandra helps to oversee training of the new recruits. She doesn't want them to make the same mistakes she has in her life. She teaches gun cleaning, safety, and general marksmanship. Her job is to nip foolishness in the bud. This is a high task considering they often get young teenagers who are just looking for adventure. She has been known to hit them with reality, quite literally, in the past. Sometimes a little spilled blood is all it takes to separate the cowards and weak from the group.

Inventory

The S&W M&P9. This handgun is both simple and effective with the luck of 9mm ammo being more available due to its popularity in times past and manufacturing still today. Dee keeps this on her hip holster.
Mossberg 590 Shockwave 12g shotgun with strap. This is generally tossed across her back, used only when shit hits the fan. The shorter barrel makes it easier to use in tight quarters. She keeps 2 3/4in buckshot shells her waist pack.
Rechargeable taser flashlight. A lady can never be too cautious.

Other:
Despite attempting to be an impenetrable being she is actually slightly afraid of the dark and she is TERRIFIED of thunderstorms. Her first fear is somewhat manageable, depending on circumstance and level of darkness. The latter will literally leave her hiding somewhere completely in shock and probably unable to move. The only way she can get through it is if someone talks her through it. However, as prideful as Dee is she would never let anyone know this fear, more than likely having an excuse to disappear and hide until the storm passes.
