Though he is not particularly defined, he is relatively in shape, with broad shoulders and a trim waist. Gene has thick dark hair that he keeps short, but he doesn't spend much time styling it, leaving it messy out of laziness, and the same can be said of his face; he is almost never clean shaven, but neither is it long or bushy, instead he's commonly seen with a smattering of sparse stubble and haphazard sideburns. His skin is pale from being a bit of a shut-in, and it does him no favors when he blushes, even a light flush will turn him red from the tips of his ears to the bottom of his chest. His most notable features are his eyes, which are an obvious and unmistakable crimson- and when he uses his powers, they flare with a fiery-orange glow.

His eyesight is not particularly good, so Gene wears thin wire-frame glasses to read, and puts in contacts when he needs to dress up - or suit up. As far as clothing styles, Gene's closet is heavily influenced by his younger self's questionable fashion sense; there's nothing quite witch-y or gothic left, but there's a distinct dark academia vibe he puts off wearing the remnants of slim steampunk vests and sharp Victorian collars. He has his fair share of hoodies and sweaters these days, but even still he rarely strays from the almost Transylvanian color palette; all dark reds, deep blacks, and stark whites.

Gene's H.E.R.O. suit is a much different look, a full body suit clad in heavy gray metals, somber orange panels, and electric blue lights. It's altogether a sleek armor set, though most of its space is dedicated to thermal regulation and a few techy aids. The gloves are almost never worn, instead carried in his pockets in case he needs them. The helmet is modular, coming in separate pieces for different occasions; the eye protecting tinted visor with integrated HUD is one piece, with a similar lower mouth guard, complete with a solid metal chin guard, a stiff neck brace, and a hidden communications device.

[color=fdc68a][INDENT]As you might expect of someone with the name Genesis Loveday Harmse, his parents were a bit... out there. His father was a former military man named Matthys Harmse who went by 'Harm' and his mother was an immigrant named Aelita Chernova who changed her name to 'Hope'. After his father left the military they joined a very cultish new-age religious commune, which Gene was born into. The less said about his childhood there the better, and thankfully they moved back to the city when he was just entering double digits. Unfortunately his parents couldn't cope, blaming each other and themselves for various nonsensical cultish things Gene still doesn't get. It was made even worse when his father, now going by a more normal 'Matt', started working as a manager for a robotics manufacturing company supplying e-Police to the city, and his mother started working as a personal assistant in the H.E.R.O. HQ.

Needless to say, anything his parents were doing held explicitly zero interest to a teenage Gene, especially heroes. Even his manifesting powers as a first-gen superhuman couldn't get more than a few moments of reluctant consideration for the profession. He went as far as refusing entry into the Academy for Junior Heroes just to drive the point home. Instead he dived into the internet, which hadn't been freely available back in Eden's Park, and obsessed over entertainment in all it's 'unholy' forms. By fifteen he was making his own videos and hosting his own streams and blogs. He dabbled in music and gaming and acting, networking with other kids on a variety of platforms for greater exposure. There was a level of comfort in being behind a screen and still being able to reach people, and so he started to help them in his own ways; charity streams and community games and merch giveaways and product reviews. Information and entertainment was his whole thing, and while he wasn't explicitly famous, he had a moderate following across the world and ran in enough of the more popular circles that he wasn't a total unknown to those with the right interests.

By the time he was eighteen he was a mildly successful vlogger known by the handle '@sunshowertv', or just 'Sunny', and had his own platform called SunshowerLive. His next step, now that he was of age and finished with his required schooling, was to take a year off before college and travel some of the world. It didn't quite go as planned; he met some fans, ran a lot of streams, made some vlogs, visited monuments and conventions, and then... there was an accident.

Gene didn't mess with his powers. Sure, when he was a kid he'd suck the life out of some batteries and then breathe fire like a dragon, and he had a couple parlor tricks where he made his eyes glow or turned a glass of water into ice when no one was looking, but those weren't anything worthwhile. So, whilst traveling on a hot train in a hot country on a hot day, Gene realized maybe he should have tested things a little more... intelligently. He'd avoided his powers like the plague, and anything that would encourage his mother's wish for him to be a hero were similarly neglected, but this time he started losing control and that [i]had never happened before.[/i] In the aftermath five people suffered severe burns, an entire train car and section of the track had been melted clean through, and Gene himself spent a month in a coma.

There was now an argument he couldn't win. He needed to learn control, and he his powers were capable of a lot more than he thought they were. His mother was finally going to get what she wanted, but if he was going to be a hero he was going to do it his way. During his recovery he reconnected with an old high school friend; Nilin Hong, a kind and open girl who he had learned was becoming a hero herself. He never confided why he had changed his mind about becoming a hero, merely that he soon would be joining her at the company and that he could use a familiar face when he did. There was also a certain organization he'd taken note of in the past, lingering on the periphery of his online channel's various charity drives and community events; the Starbright Foundation. If he was being honest, Gene needed a bit of a primer on the hero scene and a helping hand that wouldn't be overseen by his H.E.R.O. employee mother, so he contacted the Foundation in hopes they could offer a bit of advice and guidance.

Between becoming reacquainted with Nilin, joining Starbright, healing from his injuries, and training his powers, Gene had no more time for SunshowerLive, which had been on mysterious hiatus since his accident. His close friends and regular vlog partners were made aware of what happened, but were asked to keep it quiet. Despite the scarce rumors, or perhaps because of them, Gene has become the subject of incessant conspiracy and speculation. He has yet to act on any advice from the Starbright Foundation regarding his platform.[/INDENT][/color]

Hope Harmse is an entirely different obstacle; she works as a personal assistant in H.E.R.O. and has strong opinions about heroes and how her son should be one. His disinterest in the profession is entirely her fault, and she hasn't been easy to deal with during the early, messy days of his childhood, but at least she's still around. After his accident they've become closer, and though he'd never admit it, maybe she was right about the hero thing. ]
