On the day Lucia was born, the priests found the newborn with a cruxis crystal in her hand, marking her as the Goddess' Chosen. The crystal was given to the nearby temple and she was educated on the teachings of Martel for as long as she could hold a book. The priests and adults managed to negotiate a non-aggression treaty for her protection, though it didn't stop their fretting. Nonetheless, her upbringing was a peaceful one for the first ten years of her life, though afterward her days consisted of learning her future role as the Chosen as well as her future pilgrimage. 
After this, Lucia slowly began to withdraw from friend and neighbor, dedicating a majority of her days to prayer and solitude. While a stark contrast to her previous bubbly persona, most made sure to respect the distance she put between herself and others.
