I really do. But if I stay here, I can't fight out there." Despite looking like a loud sailor-mouthed brute (which he still is), Barret has a soft side for those who he takes a liking to. This hulking giant will take care of those who gain his trust, and is especially fond of his daughter Marlene. He acts as a softer father figure to Marlene and Tifa, and looks after Cloud after Barret sees through the ex-SOLDIER’s initial impressions. That said, Barret has a burning hatred for Shinra and anyone remotely affiliated with them, having declared that those working for Shinra need to acknowledge that their corporation is evil. In his eyes, Shinra greedily sucks out the planet’s mako, draining his world of its energy without any care for repercussions. Because of this, he has become the head of an Avalanche cell that was dedicated to destroying mako reactors, even though these actions deemed his cell as extremist by the (hypocritically) military-funded HQ. He will certainly go to no ends to make sure his planet is safe from Shinra’s grubby hands, though at times it seems like Barret has an ulterior motive... Equipment:
A lethal, sturdy firearm with a large magazine. A powerful bullet-based weapon, the Light Machine Gun works just how it appears. Mounted to Barret's right arm, it can spew rounds with just a short recharge in between flurries. In addition, it can be Overcharged (as mentioned above) and fire a quintet of more powerful explosive rounds. The Light Machine Gun enhances Barret’s magic traits, making spellcasting via Materia a little more viable, and more importantly possesses the trait Reprieve, allowing him to survive a single attack that would normally incapacitate him once per enemy encounter.

A close-combat weapon with steel blades designed to slice enemies to ribbons. A potential replacement for the Light Machine Gun, the Steel Pincers sacrifices Barret’s ranged capabilities (excluding his Abilities) for more barbaric close-quarters strength. With the Steel Pincers, Barret’s Overcharge ability will be replaced by Overrun, and Barret will be able to deal significant damage with slow yet powerful melee attacks. In addition, the Steel Pincers enhance his spellcasting abilities- notably giving him the ability to regenerate MP faster- though unfortunately does not possess the Light Machine Gun’s lifesaving Reprieve ability.

A bracer manufactured by Shinra for its elite troops. This seemingly-innocent ring brings a few benefits for Barret. It boosts his magical defense slightly, and strongly enhances his physical defense to make him much more like a tank. In addition, the bracelet allows its user to slot three Materia- two linked Materia, and one unlinked.

A device that converts one’s visceral emotions into tangible fury. The Transference Module works in tandem whenever Barret uses one of his Abilities, converting ATB (essentially what’s necessary to use an Ability) to charge his Limit, faster than usual.

Materia is made out of crystalized Mako, which is in turn described as the "lifeblood" of the world of Final Fantasy 7. Materia is slotted in weapons and armor, and can enhance their user in various ways. Green-colored Materia may allow casting spells, blue orbs act as support to other Materia, purple Materia might grant their user buffs. The most powerful and coveted Materia- colored a shade of red- can even summon powerful creatures! Barret's Materia list is as follows:
Lightning: Allows its user to cast Lightning spells (duh), which will always find their mark on their target. When fully developed, this Materia allows for three different variants of electricity-related spells: Thunder, Thundara, and Thundaga. Thundara is stronger than Thunder, and Thundaga is the strongest. Each spell variant costs more MP than the last to cast and requires extra time to cast, but will offer extra stopping power. In addition, Barret's Lightning Materia is linked with Elemental Materia (described below) on his weapon, giving his general attacks an additional Lightning-elemental damage bonus. This is also shown on his weapon, which will spark with electricity due to the Elemental linking. Revival: As its name suggests, Revival Materia will bring Barret's allies out of incapacitation (though unfortunately not true death). When fully upgraded, Revival Materia offers two different variants- Raise and Arise. Raise will get Barret's companion out of their unconscious state and back on their feet, though won't nurse them fully back to health; Arise, on the other hand, will fully heal a downed friend. Barrier: A fully leveled up Barrier Materia allows three different types of spells: Barrier, Manaward, and Manawall. The former two specialize in reducing physical and magical damage, respectively, whilst Manawall offers the best of both spells. This is currently linked with Magnify Materia to cast upon three targets simultaneously, at the mere cost of losing a quarter of its normal duration if it were to be cast on one target.

Chakra: Chakra Materia, regardless of level, will cure poisoning on its user and heal a portion of their damage sustained. Since Barret is an extremely bulky character, he benefits significantly since Chakra also allows him to regain part of his massive health pools in his world. Prayer: Despite its name, Prayer is in no way affiliated with religion. Instead, this Command Materia allows its user to heal their whole party. Because its potency is reliant on its user’s magic capabilities, Barret’s weapons have been geared more towards increasing his poor magic capabilities and make his healing from Prayer a bit stronger. Assess: Assess allows its user to target their entire opposing force, literally assessing their strengths, weaknesses, and health. In addition. Assess leaves behind a Battle Log for one to read up a summary on and tips on how to defeat their foe. Some foes might be unreadable, and its capabilities are absolutely uncertain in this new world...

Elemental: Elemental Materia needs to be paired to an Elemental Spell to function properly; when paired in the Weapon slot, this Materia will grant bonus elemental damage based on what it’s linked to. When paired in the Armor slot (and fully leveled up), this will grant absorption of the element of choice, regenerating health instead of taking damage. Currently, this is linked with the Lightning Materia in the Weapon slot, and is shown (as described above) via the sparks on Barret’s weapon. Magnify: When linked to a Materia of choice, Magnify allows that Materia to affect up to three different targets simultaneously; the only downside is the spell’s potency is reduced by a quarter of what it normally would be. At the moment, it is linked to Barrier Materia to allow Barret to protect both himself and his friends.

First Strike: Grants ATB at the start of a battle, allowing Barret to utilize Abilities right off the bat. This is much more helpful than one might believe upon first glance, since it lets him set up his beneficial abilities before going on the offensive.

"I'm countin' on y'all!" Bahamut: A manifestation of a dragon king revered by the original stewards of Barret's planet, Bahamut is a powerful force to be reckoned with. His Umbral Inferno fires an innumerable amount of homing lasers at a target, and his Umbral Inferno summons two orbs of pure energy to hurl at his victim. In addition, halfway through being summoned, Bahamut will form an Umbral Aura around himself, strengthening his attacks. Finally, when he is about to dissipate, Bahamut will perform a Megaflare, forming an explosive orb in his mouth before engulfing his victims in an explosion!

Attributes:
"Up your ass." In his relentless fight against Shinra, Barret has constantly relied upon his sheer strength to brute force his way through enemy forces. What he lacks in mobility, he certainly makes up for with stopping power and his iron will; this is enhanced by his various Abilities that can be employed within a fight, either dishing out hard-hitting attacks or improving his (and his party’s) survivability. Overcharge: One of two of Barret’s abilities that functions independently from ATB, this may only be employed whilst equipped with a ranged weapon. When employed, Barret will fire five explosive rounds from his weapon, the first quartet coming out at a rapid pace before the fifth deals bonus damage. After using it, Barret will need to wait a short period of time before being able to use Overcharge again; this can be mitigated by manually recharging it, best employed in between salvos of regular gunfire, or by using Charging Uppercut. It’s also worth noting that if an enemy is defeated in the middle of an Overcharge salvo, Barret will simply move on to another foe, meaning all five shots will find a target (unless they are behind cover). Overrun: The other ability Barret possesses that is independent from his ATB, Overrun is only available when using a melee weapon. Employing this will prompt Barret to charge forwards with his melee weapon, bringing along victims caught in his path. When finished, Barret will slam the ground, dealing massive area damage. Just like Overcharge, Overrun also requires a waiting period before another use, though it can also be charged manually or through Charging Uppercut. Steelskin: Steelskin, as its name implies, enhances Barret’s already-stellar defensive traits, allowing him to take more damage without succumbing to injuries. Simple? Yes. Effective? Definitely. Focused Shot: Barret uses all his available ATB to form a giant ball of energy, firing it at a single victim. This Ability is especially potent against enemies that are vulnerable (Pressured), and can easily stun them and put them in a Staggered state. The more ATB used, the more powerful the attack. Lifesaver: When activated, Lifesaver will draw most of the damage taken from Barret’s allies and apply it to himself. This is especially helpful when fulfilling his role as a tank, since it allows Barret to cover for his companions; whereas his friends might be hurting after taking a heavy blow, Barret might not be as hindered due to his raw durability. Maximum Fury: Maximum Fury utilizes all Barret’s ATB to spew a terrifying stream of lead at his victim(s). If his first target is downed by Maximum Fury, he will automatically redirect himself to another foe just like Overcharge. Charging Uppercut: Barret rushes an enemy before slamming his weapon in their face, then uppercutting to knock them into the air. If his target is too heavy, they might resist being knocked upwards. Regardless, Charging Uppercut will recharge either Overcharge or Overrun depending on what Barret is wielding. Smackdown: After lifting his weapon upwards in preparation, Barret will smash the ground and deal significant area of effect damage around him. This is somewhat slow to start up like Charging Uppcerut, and thus can be dodged by fleet-footed enemies, but will punish those unfortunate enough to be caught in the blast with strong knockback. Point Blank: True to its name, Point Blank requires Barret to be within melee range to be effective. When activated, he will fire a short-ranged blast at his target, sticking a ball of energy upon them. After a couple seconds, the energy ball will explode, knocking them away and dealing significant damage to them and any other nearby opponents. Like Maximum Fury and Focused Shot, Point Blank consumes all available ATB. Each hero in Final Fantasy 7 has a "Limit" that is always charged by taking damage and Staggering enemies within a fight, though can also be sped up by external means (such as the Transference Module). When Barret's Limit Break is ready, he will charge his weapon before leaping into the air. Once at an adequate height, Barret will fire a gargantuan beam at his target, likely hitting other foes in the general vicinity. The results can be catastrophic, hence his Limit Break's name, and is certainly not to be underestimated under any circumstances. Even if Barret's victim(s) manage to survive, they will almost likely be Staggered or Pressured, leading up to subsequent attacks!
Biography: As aforementioned, Barret Wallace is the leader of an ecoterrorist cell caled Avalanche, vowing to take down Shinra’s Mako Reactors to save the planet even if the general public villifies them. At one point, Barret hires Cloud Strife to assist with a reactor bombing, kicking off the events of Final Fantasy 7 (and its Remake). Other: Barret's HEX color is C2261F. Also, this CS was ported from a previous RP, Tear in the Multiverses, hosted elsewhere.
