[b]Bio:[/b] Xiomara Vargas is a third generation Latino born and raised in Miami, FL. Having developed a deep love for the ocean from a young age, she has spent her whole life dedicated to marine research and conservation. She received her B.S in Marine Science Biology from the University of Tampa, a M.A.S degree in Marine BioDiversity and Conservation from the University of California San Diego, and finally her PhD in Marine Biology and Ecology from the University of Miami. For the last three years, she has been working as a professor at the University of Almarfa where she currently teaches an introductory marine biology course to undergraduate students and oversees various marine population monitoring projects for the university with the help her colleagues and eager to learn graduate students.
