Kailani
It was fun, in a way, listening to the others talk about themselves. Then again part of Kailani’s good mood could directly be attributed to the amount of sustenance on offer to her, the low rumble in her stomach that seemed like a constant companion quieted for … at least an hour, probably! It was never enough. The alien’s eyes were drawn to her left again as the corpseman spoke, voice low and scraping - teeth against rock, crushed to pebbles. He was hard to hear, but the weapon being pressed to the back of his neck was much more obvious. The seemingly ever-present rictus on Kailani’s face widened, showing her teeth locked behind the muzzle as her gaze moved to the guard ‘warning’ the man beside her. Only when the guard stepped back, when the vigilante’s own attention moved from Körbl, did she go back to listening to the latter man’s story. It even ended in the best way - with another piece of food for her. “Thanks, Körbl!” She chirped, immune to any mocking present in the gesture. The last remains of food were scraped out, followed by the spoon - which was neat as it was wood, and instead of crunching beneath her teeth it splintered. Then just as many of the guards and other inmates’ attention was commanded, so was Kailani’s, even as she absently picked up one of the trays and tried to get the edge of it through the muzzle - a futile task, considering a spoon was about the largest thing able to get through. The sight of the exuberant and colorful woman was a surprise, but not an unwelcome one. Though, the noise the Demoness made at the entrance was distracting. It was almost familiar - a low rumbling trill nearly that reminded her of her own species. Kailani’s teeth clicked together in a poor imitation of the chittering her true form was so proficient at, this mouth too stiff to be able to accurately recreate it, though she managed a bit of a rumble in her throat. Yet as soon as Iris got close Kailani’s attention was diverted to waving eagerly, taking the offered lollipop and even leaning into the hand ruffling up her dark hair with what could almost pass as a purr. “My favorite Iris!” The small girl returned at the greeting, tearing into the offered candy. Crunch went the bright rainbow bit beneath her teeth, the stick following shortly after. She couldn’t help but eye the little cube candies the demoness offered Iris, but didn’t dare just take. Even if they were spicy and delicious. She was still hungry. Always hungry. The others were talking amongst one another, some responding to Abby, others having their own private conversations. Most everyone was finished with their food however, and she had pilfered almost all of their utensils. More surprisingly, she wasn’t stopped from doing so, or taking the offered food. Most of the time the Borehole liked keeping her on portions - maybe they were feeling generous today, or … or were trying to foster relations between inmates? Honestly, that would explain Iris’ presence - she seemed to know everyone. Well, if that was the case… Without a word to the others at the table Kailani stood and moved on to the next, sparing a moment as she passed to grin widely at the guard who had threatened corpseman. Her nose brought her to the next gathering, the smell not unpleasant but different. She slid into the seat next to a metal man, a brief thought crossing her mind on how he would crunch deliciously. “Heya! Are you-” He stood up abruptly, a snarl twisting his features. “Can a man not get peace to eat here?!” He grabbed the tray and stomped off clear to the other side of the room, leaving Kailani to look after him puzzled. She was going to eat his fingers, given the chance. Rather than chase, Kailani let it roll off her back for the most part and instead scooted further on the bench towards the woman he was sitting next to, only for her nose to twitch as she realized this was who the strange scent was coming from. She sniffed the air once more, tilting her head as the equally strange noise registered from the woman next to her. It reminded her of her collar, on the occasions where it lit up on her attempts to change form. Burning flesh and twitching limbs. Yet the smell of burning wasn’t present, just that faint noise. If anything, the air was … pleasant. Clean, like the outside. The alien inhaled deeply, her exhale slow and almost peaceful. Was it really from the lady next to her, almost as small as she herself was? It had to be, right? Testing this theory Kai leaned over, almost mimicking her position to headbutt the corpseman's shoulder, only to jolt as a familiar crackling sensation flashed across her face. She jumped in her seat, leg hitting the bottom of the table with an audible whack. "Oww." She rubbed her nose through the muzzle, giving a little side look. Despite it, after a moment she drew her legs up to her chest to throw her arms over in a relaxed position on the bench, grinning wide and cheerful to the quiet woman but making sure not to touch again. Even she knew a warning when it happened! “Hey! You smell delicious.” Her guard was going to have a heart attack before the day was over.
