As a second-generation Puerto Rican, Camila is very Americanized and doesn’t often speak Spanish, though she is proud of where her family comes from. While not the first of her family to graduate high school, she was the first to graduate college after having attended the University of Florida and obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Zoology. She was able to land a twelve-week internship in Costa Rica soon after graduation working on a sea turtle conservation project, however, she couldn’t afford to work without pay after her time was up and was forced to work pet store retail jobs back in Miami until she could find a paying job in her field. Discouraged after landing numerous interviews but never scoring a job, Camila decided to take on a dog training position at a local pet store as it was a field she was always interested in and figured she could use the experience to beef up her resume. After a year of training at the pet store, constricted to one school of training, Camila found that not only was the training she was asked to do mostly ineffective for most dogs outside teaching a behavior but also that there was a large disconnect between owners and their dogs. After spending several years learning new training techniques and working with pet dogs, Camila moved on to training working K9s. She is hoping to change the industry of how active-duty dogs are trained and handled while also providing personal protection dogs for private citizens. Her business in Miami was wildly successful, but because her client base is primarily on the west coast, Camila decided to move her kennel to Sanctuary, Colorado so that she can be closer to her clients and travel for sold dogs can be much easier. Misc: Limitless K9 is primarily a dog training kennel for working dogs but does offer boarding for more local clients going on vacation. It is set on an 80-acre property that is about half woodlands, half-open plains. Camila owns a 3-year-old white male Akita. While he is tolerant of strangers and will allow petting to an extent, Kuma doesn’t care to be affectionate to anyone other than Camila. Does best with female dogs. Camila drives a four-door 2021 Jeep Wrangler.
