It is often filled with a smoke compound that helps him focus his portal making abilities by heightening his awareness and ability to visualize his destination, especially if it has to be through memory. Religion: Baptist Occupation: Mutant Resistance Operative Powers/Abilities: Portal Creation: The aspect of his power that gives him the moniker of Hyperdrive; Ganni is able to break open cracks in the fabric of space to link one point to another. As such, his portals take the form of literal 'cracks', as if reality is made of glass. It has no known maximum or minimum range, but going beyond 200 kilometers causes such strain to his brain that he may either suffer a stroke or brain hemorrhage. He requires either memory of the target location, live footage, or a recent picture in order to be able to travel. Energy Channeling: Hyperdrive is able to channel energy in raw form. He can fire it as controlled bolts (think of Kingo's finger guns in Eternals), or turn it into an energy shield to protect against incoming small arms projectiles. Background: Ganymede Madrigal was born to a mundane mother and a mutant father, both of whom were originally from the Philippines. However, by the time he was going to be delivered unto this dark world, everything had fallen under the darkness left behind by the madness of Jean Grey. His father, Ericson Madrigal, had been an alumnus of Charles Xavier's School of Gifted Children, and refused to lose his powers of portals and teleportation, fearing that his background as one of that school's graduates, as well as his wife's obvious mutant sympathies, would lead them to being killed anyway. So, he would bring his family across the globe, moving every few months until they ended up in eastern Siberia, where isolation within the wild tundra afforded them time. Time to raise a son, their only son. They named him Ganymede, after one of the moons of Jupiter. Jupiter was his mother Leah's favorite planet after all. From a young age, hidden in the wilderness of the sparsely populated Siberian tundra, Ganymede was taught how to control the powers he inherited from his father and grandfather, which had seemingly combined in this generation. Using the techniques he learned long ago as part of the final batch of learners in Xavier's school, Ericson trained Ganymede to be an expert portalier. And he did. Their isolation wasn't to last, though. One day, Ericson slipped up and was spotted in Vladivostok using a portal to return to the little cottage that the Madrigals were using in the deep tundra. Attention was soon drawn towards their area, and teams of UE soldiers stealthily crept towards their home. The intent was to kill, as Ericson and Leah Madrigal had refused the cure, and didn't give it to their son, either. The attack was sudden. Ericson and Leah were killed by sniper fire, while Ganymede was able to shield himself with his powers. With drones and helicopters audibly approaching, Ganymede cracked open a portal, regrettably leaving the dead bodies of his parents behind as he fled to the island of Sakhalin, where he had been instructed to go in case things went wrong. He was quickly met by a fellow mutant, a former colleague of his father. Ganymede was told about the underground that fought against the oppression of the United Empire, and that the cottage that he lived in was one of their safehouses. Now that had been compromised, and so… he will have to stick with them instead. That's just what he did for the last ten years.
