Nah, Domic really is just a belligerent like that. His whole personality is basically "Fights people who's bigger than me" or "Fights people who are being mean", and Zagren was both. In an idealistic setting, it's what encourages him to go on adventures and fight big bad guys. In more cynical takes, it just makes Domic a short murderer.
