Ryu pulled the hood over his head. It hung just over his eyes and shadowed half of his face. He had walked this well worn path for what seemed like hours. Fields of grain were on either side of him. Ryu had stopped more then once to sniff the grain, it's scent was interesting to him. After a while a town came into view, and Ryu spotted guards stationed at the gates. As he approached, attention was turned upon him. He was stopped by one of the guards. "Why do you come here?" The guard asked, towering over Ryu. Ryu responded smoothly, head tilted slightly downwards. "Visiting a friend." After a tense moment, the guard opened the gate. "Very well... Welcome to Laroche City."Ryu murmured a thanks and entered hurriedly. He brushed strands of hair off the side, eyes darting back and forth. He did not see any papers posted with his face. After walking a few blocks, seeing no signs, he started to relax. Ryu stopped by a tavern, unsure if to enter or not.(Whoops, meant to post something early, just now got access to internet.)
The town seems quiet enough, as most elven towns do. The guards are Alderians, supposedly sent to keep the Resistance in check, but they're new recruits. The Resistance hasn't been spotted anywhere near here, and the local dragon hadn't caused any trouble. After the first few years of hiring famous dragon slayers, the populace had realized the dragon had no intention of burning down their houses and stealing their daughters, and grew tired of the expensive mercenaries. You don't hear anything about lord Adel, but you know that his reach is wide. Even if this place is not yet hunting foxes and burning their corpses, it won't be long before they do. Although Elves might object, due to feeling a connection to nature, the human soldiers would feel no such compulsion.
