[@InsertANameHere] I think just about everyone in the RP knows that. I also think the general idea is to keep a standard medieval/D&D fantasy-esque feel and while you can argue guns are medieval, for roleplaying they just open up a whole can of worms and have a 50/50 shot of introducing gunpowder dick measuring contests. With strictly medieval level tech things are more "even". There's also the issue of magic in that magic can do what guns irl can. Want to instantly kill that armored knight? Fire balls work just as well as musket balls.
