[indent]Ryuji appears to be a bearded middle-aged man with a lean yet well tone muscled bod similar to a hard-working field worker. A vagrant that wanders the land disguised as a common farmer, concealing his Naginata as a really long fishing rod. He usually wears a sakkat along with his torn-out black haori with a draping red cape covering his former clan's crest.

[indent]Ryuji has an easygoing attitude and a slacker nature. He is carefree and seems to be lacking some seriousness. Not that he's irresponsible or oblivious on how the world works. It's just that he likes to play the fool and not fret about things. Underneath his devil-may-care persona, he can be analytical about his surroundings.  A  little sense of pessimism underneath his usual lax mood.

As a ronin living in exile, Ryuji develops a strong sense of self-preservation and learned to survive by any means necessary. Becoming an opportunist as he goes. He can be ruthless and selfish, yet somehow returns to his carefree nature.

[indent]A Ronin is never bound by contract nor a permanent place they can call home. It is a luxury they simply can't afford, like a beaten-up bird without a nest. Always flying, always finding ways to survive. This is no different from Ryuji's backstory. 

Born on a full moon, [url=https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Absol_(Pok%C3%A9mon)]An ominous white-furred pokemon with a single dark crescent horn[/url] appears in front of him as its audience. A sign, an omen, a superstition many believe to be a thousand years of bad luck. 

It is prophesized by the local Spiritualists that this baby will bring calamity to their village as long as he breathes. The Shogun ignored this silly foretelling and decided to tolerate the boy for the sake of his Samurai parents who loyally serve him for many years. 

For each passing day, Misery befalls upon the town as the prophecy became truer and truer as Ryuji grew up. People hated him for that and often be hostile against him and his family.

Nevertheless, despite the gloom and doom that surrounds the ill-fated kid, Ryuji is determined to become a samurai. He trained as hard as he can. He has mastered the art of wielding a spear and naturally become a skilled fighter at a very young age. 

So much so, that he was talented enough to join a band of known samurais known as the "Brave Birds" who served a minor lord for many generations. They specialize in flying-type pokemon as their companion. 

It is in their tradition, On their 12th birthday, a young aspiring samurai must go on a right of passage and capture a flying type pokemon as a test to prove themselves worthy of the clan. For some reason, Ryuji passes the test and manages to capture and become best of friends with a Murkrow.

As the years when by, Ryuji's "curse" grew stronger as he attracts darkness whenever he goes. He became a jinx to his fellow samurais and everyone around him. The Shogun has had enough of this and decided to exile the samurai, severing Ryuji's ties with them and his ancestral village, forever relieve of his duties to his lord. 

Now the lone ronin wanders of the land of Kanto along with his mischievous crow perch on his shoulders, honing his skills in solitude and landing himself in Saffron village, hoping to get a bit of luck in his future journeys.
