Even before she awoke, her phone was blowing up with calls from corporate, complaining about some issue that, for some reason, they expected her, someone who was employed less than a week ago, to know how to fix. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she muted the phone, pointing, ignoring the string of messages from an ex, who she was sure she had already blocked. She haphazardly threw the phone into the bedside drawer because acknowledging what was on it meant becoming more agitated, and becoming more agitated wouldn't help her in the long run. The woman had a plan, a plan that started with a healthy and filling breakfast. The kettle was whistling, the toast was buttered, the bacon was partially done, and Leilana had no idea what she was looking at. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say she couldn't comprehend what she was looking at. She was no stranger to magical creatures, partially due to her passion for fantasy books and shows, but they were fictional as far as she was aware. Not something that you could find in your fridge on a Tuesday morning; definitely not dragons. Especially in a refrigerator. An oven would be more understandable. Maybe even a microwave. Somewhere warm. No, who was she kidding? That would be just as bizarre. The eggshells were still there, and slowly she picked them up. She would figure this out like she always did- one step at a time. First, she would clean the mess up. Dragons or no dragons, her roommate would kill her if she saw the state of the fridge. The creatures seem docile at the moment, so Leilana made a somewhat risky decision to let them be for now. Gently avoiding the scaly skin of the fridges occupants, she had gathered up the seemingly ordinary eggshells and closed her fist around them. Hearing the satisfying crunch on her skin, she made her way to the bin and threw them out, making sure to turn the stove off before the bacon burnt to the crisp. Now that the fridge was in a better state, she allowed herself to examine the tiny beings. The dragons were small and surprisingly calm. Almost like kittens. Tiny, scaly kittens which would occasionally exhale smoke. So not really like kittens, but you get the point. Their scales were iridescent grey, and even though she was apprehensive about touching them, the scales seemed to be hard, like a coat of armour protecting its inhabitant. Slowly she held out her arm allowed the creatures to sniff her. They were cute in their own weird, twisted way, and they haven't burned down the kitchen yet. Instead of sniffing or doing anything of the sort, the dragons began clambering onto her arm. Leilana stifled a yelp, completely freezing on the spot. They were on her. The dragons were on HER, slowly ascending towards her shoulder before she could react. To make matters worse, the kitchen door opened, revealing her roommate, who happened to be midway through a phone conversation. They stared at each other in awkward silence, neither of them willing to address the elephant (or rather, dragons) in the room. Even with all the weird shit they went through together, it was impossible to explain why a dozen tiny dragons crowded her shoulders. Awkwardly she smiled as the man's phone slipped from his grasp.
