While I'm familiar with the original lore from the classic books, I never played the CP77 game either.

However, there's plenty of resources out there for sure to get you up to speed. Aside from Ruby's earlier suggestion of the original CP/RED core books, you can check out the CP77 wikis or watch all the game cutscenes, which fills you in on main events specific to CP77 plot.
