In terms of Authors: John Flanagan (rangers apprentice guy) has a poetically simplistic style I strive for! I also started roleplaying around them same time I began reading the Arkday Renko Series and those books really influenced my style and way of building stories/plots. 

I also have had plenty of partners who really pushed me to improve. One of them is a member here that has not return in a while: ArkhamInmate333. He's a great writer and helped me improve my writing! Similarly a member I have never been able to find again, helped me learn how to write fighting better with a pokemon roleplay! I wish we finished it, but alas.
